It appears as though the Haunted Mansion may very well be closed for virtually the entire summer season, although it seems that not all rumored changes may take place. The rehab will consist of mostly “technical” upgrades to the attraction’s audio and lighting systems. However, some of the scenic improvements may have been cut from the budget, which would have included some type of addition planned for the graveyard.
It also looks as though there may have been plans for a new queue and exit area (the gift shop?), which also may have been removed.
However, it seems that the ballroom scene will get some needed TLC including lighting and effects improvements, much like Pirates of the Caribbean receievd.
It is still unclear why the summer months were chosen instead of the less crowded times of year such as January through March.
Disney may have entered into contracts with Vekoma, the same company that built Rock N Roller Coaster, for an undisclosed upgrade to Space Mountain starting sometime in 2008. How much of an upgrade is in dispute – will it be a complete overhaul of the existing layout, as well as adding new trains? How similar will it be to what was done at Disneylandd? Will the queue be upgraded as well?
It seems as though a rehab to the Jungle Cruise may begin in the Fall of 2007, but little information is known as to how extensive it will be, and/or if it will include the introduction of Disney characters such as Timon and Pumbaa.
Rumors still persist that the Disney-MGM Studios will be renamed the Disney-Pixar studios in conjunction with the opening of the Toy Story Mania ride in the first half of 2008.
