As heard on The WDW Radio Show, show #103, for the week of January 25, 2009
The walls are down and the Golden Oak Outpost quick service location in Frontierland looks great, according to photos sent to me by a couple of listeners. There’s also a well-themed outdoor seating area adjacent to it. I’m looking forward to trying their fried chicken sandwich as I understand the new location is now open for business.
As I mentioned last week, construction is well underway in Tomorrowland on the new stage for the new musical show and dance party, Stitch’s SuperSonic Celebration, set to open in April. According to concept art now available on the new DisneyWorld.com web site (which launched last week, by the way and looks great), it appears as though it will use an interactive Stitch character displayed on a large screen behind the stage. Similar to what you experience in Turtle Talk with Crush, Stitch will have the ability to “see” Guests and interact with them. This is yet another step for Disney into interactive, as opposed to passive entertainment that we have started to see a trend towards. We are beginning to see new offerings in what Disney termed their “living character initiative” that we see not just with Crush, but with Mr. Potato Head in Toy Story Mania, and caught glimpses of with Lucky the Dinosaur and Muppet Mobile Labs.
