They did it!

Lori Burke (center) and Tracy Cherry (just right of center) approach the half marathon finish line

Last weekend was the running of the Walt Disney World Marathon and Half Marathon. I was just a spectator for these events – I’ll leave the athletics to those much more suited to them – but it was an exciting weekend nonetheless.

Two Dream Team Project volunteers and close friends of mine completed their very first half marathons. Lori Burke and Tracy Cherry trained for months, overcame nerves and setbacks, and toughed it out to cross the finish line together. I am so proud of them both!

As part of their efforts, they raised money for the Dream Team. Coworkers, friends, and family all sponsored them with donations of various sizes. Together, the total they raised was over $1,600! Way to go, ladies!!!

I think their custom tank-tops say it all:

Congratulations to Lori and Tracy again for their accomplishment! It is wonderful what people can do when they put their minds to it. And even better is how much good can come from the effort!
