As heard on The WDW Radio Show, show #112, for the week of March 29, 2009
For many people, spending the holidays at Walt Disney World offers a wonderful opportunity to spend time with family and friends, often with some added bonuses and surprises, and the upcoming Easter season is no exception.
Do you think that just because you’re in Walt Disney World you can’t go on an Easter egg hunt? Think again! Disney is just starting to release information about a variety of activities that will be available throughout the Theme Parks and Resorts. Each year many of the resorts offer either an Easter egg hunt or “candy scramble” for kids, and other activities in the past have included pool parties, sack races, Easter egg coloring, a jelly bean tasting contest and other Easter-themed crafts and activities. If you will be heading down at that time, check with your resort’s front desk for a list and schedule of activities.
Of course, you can’t have Easter without meeting the Easter Bunny, right? And what better place than the Magic Kingdom! Look for times and location to be announced soon on DisneyWorld.com.
There will also be an Easter Brunch available from noon until 6 p.m. at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort’s Fresh Mediterranean Market. Cost is $32.95 for adults and $17.95 for children under 10 years of age. The brunch will consist of a variety of soups, salads, appetizers, lamb skewers and rosemary ham. For dining reservations call 407-WDW-DINE (939-3463).
Want your Easter brunch with a little bit of music? The House of Blues at Downtown Disney’s West Side offers its weekly Sunday Gospel Brunch with an all-you-can eat Southern style buffet as you listen to live music performed by local Gospel groups. Brunch times are at 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. cost is $32.50 per person. For reservations call 407-934-BLUE (2583).
And just because you are on vacation during Easter, it does not mean that you have to miss Easter Mass, as there are several options to attend a religious service while at the Walt Disney World Resorts.
Religious services will be held on Easter Sunday at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in the Fantasia Ballroom. Last year two Catholic Mass services and one Protestant service were held. Times for this year’s Easter services have not been released as yet.
