News from the Magic Kingdom for the week of April 12, 2009

April 13th, 2009 @ 8:56 pm by Lou Mongello

As heard on The WDW Radio Show, show #114, for the week of April 12, 2009

The Friar’s Nook has opened in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom, replacing the Village Fry Shoppe. This quick-serve location is currently serving hot dogs, French fries, soft drinks, and carrot cake in its first few weeks. However, that menu may change, as it is rumored to be serving “tropical refreshments” sometime in the future. An expanded outdoor seating area is also available.

The new stage show, Stitch’s Supersonic Celebration, is expected to open in Tomorrowland on May 10, 2009, as work on the new stage is nearly compete.

The new meet-and-greet area at the former Galaxy Palace Theater is close to completion, and is rumored to be the new home for Tomorrowland favorites Buzz Lightyear and Stitch.

Another RUMOR that has been floating around is that Character Dining may be returning to Liberty Tree Tavern, which stopped having a character dining experience in January. If this is the case, we may start seeing characters return in the next few weeks.
