Listen to the Show

Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show – Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #167 for the week of April 25, 2010.

Properly planning your Walt Disney World vacation is crucial, and an important part of that planning needs to focus on not just time spent in the parks, but getting to and from the resort. This week, we’re going to take a look at Disney’s Magical Express, the free bus service to and from the airport. Whether you’re a first time visitor or think you know how Magical Express works, we’ll talk about not just how the the system works, but its pros and cons, how to get the most out of it, and some very important details you need to know before you go.

Next, I’ll call a listener and invite her to play Fact or Fiction, where she can answer Walt Disney World trivia questions for a chance to win some prizes. Play along at home, see how you do, and find out how you can enter for a chance to play on the air as well.

I’ll announce a new product this week, have a few announcements, and then play more of your voicemails at the end of the show, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s episode of the WDW Radio Show

You can email the show at or call the voicemail TOLL FREE at 888-703-2171.

Thanks for listening! Be sure to tune in next week!

  1. Chuck Zitta says:

Magical Express is such a fantastic amenity WDW offers guests. We always use it. Talk about worry-free travel! Like Chuck said, all you have to do is tag your bags and once you check them in at the airport, you don’t have to worry about them anymore. They just magically show up in your room. So you show up at Orlando International, check in at the Magical Express desks, hop on the bus and off you go. Once you get to your resort, just check in and then hit the parks or wherever you want to go in WDW. I like to get an early start on our arrival day. So we are usually IN WDW by noon at the latest. So, we have almost a full day (or maybe A full day if we take advantage of extra magic hours). BTW, last time down, when we arrived at Orlando International and headed down to the Magical Express desks, there was NO line to wait in! We literally walked past a cast member who quickly checked our vouchers and we were on a bus. BAM, just like that. I should mention, we came down during the Thanksgiving holiday AND I found it was cheapest to travel ON Thanksgiving day. Some may not prefer this choice, but we did it because the airline tickets were MUCH cheaper, the lines were much shorter and we were going to WDW for 10 days! So plenty of magic time to make up for missing the turkey dinner. On the day of our departure, I like to get one of the latest flights I can. Gives us most of the day to enjoy the parks before we head out. Worked out well for us. So a 7:45 flight would mean you could stay at WDW until roughly 4:45, since Disney requests a 3 hour lead time to get you to the airport before your return flight time. And yes, travel light going down to WDW, leave room in your bags for Disney goodies. So you don’t incur any extra charges. Love the early check-in feature the Magical Express now offers as well on your departure day. On your last day, once everyone was up and ready, I took all our luggage down to the baggage handlers and was able to check in our luggage before we began our last day in the parks. Once I checked it in, we hit the parks and had a great last day. Picked up our carry-on items just before it was time to depart and waited for the bus back to the airport. Very simple. No worries. What a great service. Just make sure you plan everything out and allow plenty of time. But, as I mentioned above, we had no wait for the Magical Express on our last trip down. It was a seamless transition from Airliner to Bus. I guess it depends on when you travel. It’s a worry-free service, so don’t ‘worry’ about your luggage. Enjoy the World!
Great show guys! Thank you, Lou!!!
