Listen to the Show

Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show – Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #172 for the week of May 30, 2010.

We’ll start off this week’s show by taking a look at what’s coming next to Walt Disney World, as we discuss the many new (and old) offerings as part of Summer Nightastic. We’ll also discuss some other Disney news, including improvements to the online dining reservations system, and a curious change taking place in Fantasyland.

Star Wars Weekends is in full swing at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as the legendary Star Wars Saga is celebrated, this year including the including the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back and the animated television series, The Clone Wars. I’m joined this week in an exclusive interview with Ashley Eckstein, celebrity host for Star Wars Weekends, the voice of Ahsoka Tano in the Clone Wars series, former Walt Disney World Cast Member and so much more. We’ll discuss not only her role in the Star Wars universe and at Star Wars Weekends, but her career at Disney and ongoing fascination with Disney collecting and the Disney parks.

I’ll announce the winner of our Walt Disney World Threes contest, as well as the winners of the live contest we held during the 24-hour live broadcast from Walt Disney World last weekend.

I’ll play more of your voicemail and have a few announcements including details about upcoming Meets of the Month in Walt Disney World at the end of the show, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s episode of the WDW Radio Show.

You can email the show at lou@wdwradio.com or call the voicemail TOLL FREE at 888-703-2171.

Thanks for listening! Be sure to tune in next week!

  1. Loved the “Three’s contest” Lou. I felt pretty good that I only missed one! Would love to see you in August or December when we’re there! Also, we just love the Top Ten episodes with Bananas Foster!!

  2. Great show Lou! Loved the interview with Ashley! She is a real star, who sounds like she’s also a real person.

  3. Jonathan Grant says:

What a fantastic interview with Ashley! Churros & Mickey Bars at her wedding?? Awesome!! Thanks for another great interview, Lou!

  4. Sally Dziak says:

Awesome show, Lou! I remeber Ashley from That’s So Raven! Who would have thought Muffy was such a sweetheart! What an amazing girl she is! Beautiful, talented, kind, gracious AND a Disney lover!

  5. disneydork23 says:

Great show as always Lou! I loved the interview! I am not a big Star Wars fan, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I loved her views and loved hearing about her wedding! That contest was super fun too! I can’t believe I missed one!

  6. Great show Lou(like when isn’t there a great show) And I never knew Ashley Eckstein was married to David Eckstein.

  7. Great show Lou….loved your discussion about Summer Nightastic and your interview with Ashley. I’m not a big Star Wars fan…but I really enjoyed the interview.

As for the renaming of the Carrousel….I am skeptical. I certainly hope Disney has more in the works for it than just the renaming because I have been one of the critics of the renaming. I personally think it’s pretty lame and if it’s an attempt to woo the young boys…it’s not going to work unless there’s something else in the works.

Loved the video of MSEP….that was great. Too bad you didn’t get a chance to ask if the performers are from California or if they trained new performers. That would have been a great question.

  8. Christina says:

I am completely ready for my trip to Disney at the end of this month. I am looking forward to some DISNEY MAGIC!! The part Summer Nightastic I am most excited about, is the event I will miss due to travel dates – the Slippery When Wet – Jovi Tribute Band. With that said, my second Summer Nightastic event I can’t wait to see are the new paremeter fireworks. I would love to know the best location to get the most out of this experience within the Magic Kingdom.

  9. I was interested in your interview with Ashley Eckstein as a Star Wars fan, but then when she mentioned the woman’s product line it all clicked together…I read the article about her on the Star Wars homing beacon newsletter, and I thought “finally!” I’m looking forward to getting some women’s SW apparel out there. Thanks again for such an interesting podcast!

  10. I do always love the show but, not being a big fan of Star Wars, wasn’t that excited about the interview…until it was done. Lou, you really have a knack for bringing the best out of people and there’s a lot of ‘best’ in Ashley Eckstein – what a cool person she is!

Oh and am I the only one who would be excited to see the Chicago Tribute Band? Love those 80′s.
