Walt Disney World Drink of the Week: The Pomegranate Splash

Summertime is almost here and since the temperatures are already reflecting this in many places across the country why not take a break and fix yourself an iced cold (adult friendly) drink? I always try to tie a little bit of Disney into everything I do at home because, let’s face it; I can’t be there as often as I wish. One of the most important ways of making it a Disney day at our house is to cook a meal from the World and have a drink from there as well. There are many tasty drink options to choose from when at the resorts and in the parks but one of my favorites can be found at the Tune In Lounge.

“Where is the Tune In Lounge?” That is the question I get asked a lot when I tell people where we like to relax for lunch after a morning of fun in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. If you have ever waited for a table at 50’s Prime Time Café then you have probably been in the Tune In Lounge. The Tune In is the bar for the restaurant, serving drinks as well as dishes from 50’s Prime Time Café, and it is also the waiting area for those waiting to be seated in the restaurant. The Tune In serves up one of the most refreshing adult beverages on property – the Pomegranate Splash. Yes it’s red in color and yes some might call it a “girly drink”, but in the end, it’s the taste that matters! Cool, crisp, and fruity, these drinks are easy on the taste buds and the bartenders there know how to make them just right.

On a trip last fall I finally asked our bartender just what I would need to do to make them at home and she very kindly listed the ingredients for me so now I’m going to share them with you:

1.5 oz. Skyy Citrus Vodka
¾ oz. PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur
¾ oz. Monin Pomegranate Syrup

Fill the glass with a splash of Cranberry juice and Club Soda (the bartender told me you can use 7UP instead, which is what I do here at home)

I mix it well before adding the 7UP and then give a little stir after filling with the soda. The drink comes served in a Collins glass with a straw and usually with a lemon and cherry garnish.  Enjoy!

The Walt Disney World Drink of the Week will be a recurring feature on WDWRadio.com. So tell us in the Comments section: What is your favorite drink in Walt Disney World? What drink(s) would you like to see featured on the blog?

One of the best drinks at WDW are the Bloody Mary’s at the pool lounge of the Beach Club. Just enough horse radish and hot sauce to make the olives sing. Sorry but the Pomegranate are just too sweet…

First of all great podcast Lou – My wife and I have listened to you since your last podcast venture and never missed an episode!
Can you look into the Tokyo Sunset drink at Teppan Edo in Japan? My wife and I loved this drink but found varying recipes that all aren’t right. We have also read that using 99 Banana’s for the banana liqueur part for the drink but that was way too strong. If you could do write up of this drink it would be greatly appreciated.

My mom loves the Orange Grand Marnier at Epcot in France.

My favourite is the Rum Runner at Typhoon Lagoon. So much so I recreate it every friday night with my drinkin buddys

I am addicted to Pina CoLavas, and they can be found at resort pool bars and many other places on property.

I’m also a fan of the Green Tea Martini at Teppan Edo. And who can forget the Fiesta Margaritas in Mexico? :)
