Epcot Food & Wine Festival Roundtable Review; WDW NewsCast Announcement

Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show – Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #194 for the week of October 31, 2010.

An important part of your Walt Disney World vacation experience depends on when you visit the resort, as throughout the year, there are numerous special events spanning a variety of interests and themes. One of the most popular has been the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, now celebrating it’s 15th year. This week, we’ll recap the event on our roundtable, and discuss and review the event as a whole, as it goes far beyond just sampling foods from around the world in the kiosks in World Showcase. We’ll talk about some of the other experiences available to guests, our 3rd annual WDW Radio Walkabout, as well as recap the first annual Wine & Dine Half Marathon and post-race party in World Showcase.

I’ll tell you all about a new weekly offering from WDW Radio beyond the show and videos, and something that you can be an integral and interactive part of, as I launch the all-new WDW NewsCast.

I’ll have some more announcements and then play more of your voicemails at the end of the show. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s episode of the WDW Radio Show.

Thanks for listening! Be sure to tune in next week!

Just downloaded it on my Palm Pre! Will listen to it as soon as I get out of class! Nothing like a WDW Radio Show to brighten up my day.

Can’t wait to hear about the Newscast.

    Great show, Lou!

RE: the Wine & Dine 1/2 Marathon after party… my wife & I were registered for the relay. Unfortunately, due to an injury, we did not get to run. We went to the finish line to cheer, then headed into World Showcase (since admission to the after party was included in our race registration.) When we were planning for the race, I was really looking forward to the after party… I was thinking it would be a great way to relax after the race.

If I had run that night, I would have been upset during the after party. I have never seen World Showcase that crowded, except for possibly on New Years Eve. After meeting up with the WDW Radio running team and congratulating them, we ended up handing our free food/drink vouchers to a friend and going back to our resort.

I hope next year they can figure a way to either limit the crowd, or to manage it better.

Are you sure Steve Drew is a good person to have on as a food critic? As we saw with the Kitchen Sink Showdown the guy isn’t too discriminating about what he puts in his mouth!

Lou, just listened to your Food and Wine round table and agree 100% on the problems with the after party. My wife and niece ran the half marathon and I was really bummed waiting for them to finish since nothing but the kiosks were open. Then the crowds got so busy that it took over 45 minutes to wait in line. We had a great weekend and love the Food and Wine Festival but were very disappointed with the after party.

We also agree that the passports with the food and drinks for each country was a great way to keep track of what we had and what we had left to sample. The food was great and the crowds the rest of the weekend didn’t seem to bad. We can’t wait for our next trip…. Disney Dream in March. We are bummed we couldn’t do the WDW cruise but had to plan around the kids spring break.

Did I hear you correctly? Sounds like the BOX was born at the end of this episode. If so, that has to be a monumental moment in WDW Radio history. Always enjoy the Food & Wine Festival reviews (as long as it’s on a full stomach of course). Have only been to one Food & Wine. More to come, I hope. Love being down there that time of the year. Thanks again for another terrific show, Lou!!!
