Main Street, USA DSI: Disney Scene Investigation Part 1; WDW Radio Running Team Info

Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show – Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #197 for the week of November 21, 2010.

This week, we’ll slow down just a little more as we wander right down the middle of Main Street, USA. Because as I often do on the show, on the blog and in my Audio Guides to Walt Disney World, I want to help introduce you to so many of incredible details, stories and hidden treasures that are the hallmarks of the Disney parks. Jim Korkis joins me as we wander through Town Square and learn more about this wonderfully imagineered town from the turn of the century in Part 1 of our DSI: Disney Scene Investigation of Main Street, USA.

With the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend coming up in January, I’ll talk about how you can be a part of the WDWRadio Running Team and help raise money for the Dream Team Project to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America.

I’ll have a few other announcements and play more of your voicemails. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s episode of the WDW Radio Show.

Thanks for listening! Be sure to tune in next week!

  1. Hey Lou,
I’ve only just started to listen to this podcast, but I can tell you that Main Street has ALWAYS been one of my favorite “lands” for sheer atmosphere alone. I suppose that it is also partly because I love history and the 1890-1910 timeframe is an era of particular interest for me. Main Street is sensory immersion in a way “unburdened” by rides and sets the mood and attitude for everything to come.

And, now that the podcast is over, I am once again in awe of Jim’s breadth and depth of knowledge of what has gone into this place we love. How many parts of this is there going to be, because, if I listened carefully to what you two covered, you and Jim could easily make this an eight-part series! I, for one, would not be disappointed with that at all!

  2. You and Jim are killing me with these amazing reports on the stories behind Walt Disney World. Disney needs a historian on staff to preserve this information. If that role is not in Jim’ future it’s a shame, and a loss for Disney and Disney fans. Great work on this one. I look forward to more reports as you and Jim leave Town Square and head up the street.
