Main Street, USA DSI: Disney Scene Investigation Part 2; Interview with Steven Miller from Disney Parks Merchandise

Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show – Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #198 for the week of November 28, 2010.

We’ll continue our journey down Main Street, USA as we take our time and explore the details, hidden treasures and history of the Emporium and Center Street. Jim Korkis and I point out many of the overlooked details that tell the story of this Victorian seaside town.

With the holiday season underway, and many fans wishing for Disney presents under the tree, I’ll talk with Steven Miller, Merchandise Manager for the Disney parks about the Disney pin collecting and trading phenomenon, the explosive growth and popularity of Vinylmation, and the introduction (and story) of Duffy the Disney Bear.

I’ll also announce a special WDW Radio event for 2011 that may be a nice addition to a Disney trip already in your plans, then have a few other announcements and play more of your voicemails at the end of the show. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s episode of the WDW Radio Show.

Thanks for listening! Be sure to tune in next week!

Proud to say I knew who Osh Popham was! Summer Magic is one of my favorite movies! Love the connection to Main St! – that I didn’t know 🙂

  3. Beth Stran says:

Where can I find a picture of Duffy? Going in 63 days and think it would be great for my 5 month old grandson.

    Hi Lou,
I LOVE your Audio Guides! I listen to them whenever I drive during my long 6 hour drives to Boston. They make my trip so pleasant and go so fast! I just love imagining walking around Main Street, Fantasyland , and Adventureland. Your descriptions bring all my memories of Disney vacations seem like they are from a receint trip! I especially love hearing about all the history as my first visit was right after Disney World opened. So much has changed but with your stories, I’m transported back in time.

I should be receiving your two new Audio Guides of Liberty Square and Toontown soon, Yipee!
I’m so excited to hear them that I’m not going to wait for my next trip to Boston. I’m going to listen to them right away!

    Your fellow fantasy lover,

A little bit of everything in this show. Enjoyed you and Jim finishing up the Main Street tour and dug the interview with Steven Miller. Especially the segment where he discussed Vinylmations with you. Don’t know what it is, but I find that product line to be very fascinating. The blind boxes are a great aspect of these cool little figures. Really adds excitement and wonder to the line. Thanks again for another fantastic show, Lou!!!
