Thanksgiving Day Meals Around Walt Disney World

by Don Myers

Halloween is tomorrow, which means Thanksgiving is right around the corner. If you’re going to be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort this Thanksgiving, here’s a look at which restaurants will be serving up special meals for the occasion.

Let’s start in the Magic Kingdom. Here you’ll find three restaurants with special Thanksgiving menus. Liberty Tree Tavern offers up both lunch and dinner served in the restaurant’s traditional style (everything brought to the table). You can also spend Thanksgiving on Main Street, as Tony’s Town Square Restaurant will be featuring special menu items for the Holiday. Finally, The Diamond Horseshoe will once again be opening up its doors, offering both a lunch and dinner buffet.

Epcot Center has more than its share of restaurants serving up special meals November 24th as well, two of which can be found in Future World. The Coral Reef Restaurant will be offering up special menu items for lunch and dinner, while the Garden Grill presents the chance to spend Thanksgiving Dinner with Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale! But the Thanksgiving Day meals aren’t confined to Future World, as there are four unique dining options in World Showcase as well. The Biergarten at the Germany pavilion features a special buffet for both lunch and dinner, and you’ll also find Thanksgiving menu items at The Rose and Crown Pub and Dining Room in the UK and Le Cellier Steakhouse in Canada. You can even have Thanksgiving lunch or dinner with the Princesses over at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in Norway!

Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom each have dining options for Thanksgiving as well. Over at the Studios, you’ll find special menu items for lunch and dinner at both the 50’s Prime Time Café and the Hollywood Brown Derby. In addition, you’ll also find a Thanksgiving lunch and dinner buffet at Hollywood and Vine. Meanwhile at Animal Kingdom, there’s only one restaurant serving up Thanksgiving items, and that’s the Tusker House, which will have a special lunch and dinner buffet.

The Thanksgiving meals aren’t limited to the Parks, as many of the Resorts will also be offering special Holiday dining. Let’s break it down by category.

  • The Value Resorts have one option, and that’s dinner over at the End Zone Food Court at All-Star Sports Resort.
  • The Moderate Resorts have three restaurants, the first of which can be found at Caribbean Beach. There, at Shutters at Old Port Royale, you’ll find a special buffet for both lunch and dinner.  The other two are at Fort Wilderness, where you’ll find a lunch and dinner buffet at Trails End Restaurant, as well as Mickey’s Backyard Thanksgiving Feast (Mickey’s Backyard BBQ with a special buffet menu).
  • The Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts offer up the most Thanksgiving dining options, as practically every Resort has at least one restaurant with a special November 24th menu. The Grand Floridian has the most, with four restaurants in the Turkey Day mix. The Grand Floridian Café will feature lunch and dinner options, and Narcoossee’s, Citrico’s, and the big one, Victoria & Albert’s will all have special dinner menus as well. The Yacht & Beach Club Resorts have three restaurants with Thanksgiving offerings. Cape May Café and the Captain’s Grille will both feature lunch and dinner buffets, and Yachtsman’s Steakhouse will be serving up Thanksgiving dinner family style (ala Liberty Tree Tavern and Garden Grill). The Swan and Dolphin will also have three restaurants with special menus. The Fresh Mediterranean Market will have a buffet from noon-6pm with all the trimmings, and Il Mulino New York Trattoria and the Garden Grove will both feature Thanksgiving Dinner options beginning at 5pm. The Boardwalk has two dinner choices for your dining pleasure: Flying Fish Café and Kouzzina. Animal Kingdom Lodge will feature a unique lunch and dinner at Sanaa, as well as dinner at Jiko- The Cooking Place. Wilderness Lodge also has two restaurants in the fold, with Whispering Canyon Café serving up lunch and dinner, and Artist’s Point offering a special dinner. You’ll also find Thanksgiving lunch and dinner choices at The Polynesian’s Kona Café, Old Key West’s Olivia’s Café, and Saratoga Springs’ Turf Club Bar & Grill. Finally, if you’re looking for Character Dining at the Resorts this Thanksgiving, look no further than the Contemporary. It’s there where you can enjoy a dinner buffet with the big cheese himself over at Chef Mickey’s. The Contemporary will also be offering “non character” dining options as well, as they’ll have a special lunch and dinner at The Wave and dinner at the California Grill to choose from.

As with all table service restaurants at WDW, advanced reservations are strongly recommended. And these Thanksgiving Day Meals are certainly no exception.  You can check for availability and make dining reservations online at http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/reservations/dining/
