Last month, we challenged young Disney fans to incorporate the Disney spirit into their Thanksgiving celebrations.  We received an entry from an amazing young fan, whose pictures and description we would like to feature in this blog.

Her mom writes, “My 13 year old daughter, Makena W., has been a ‘Box Person’ for the last 1 ½ years.  She is also interested in cake decorating so she decided to merge the two when she heard about the Thanksgiving contest and chose to make our dessert table Disney-fied.  Makena made sugar cookies and ‘dressed’ our family for a Disney vacation.  She made tiny character cakes as balloons for us to hold onto while waiting for the Main Street Electrical Parade!! (Photo #1).  Makena then made a bear cake – not just any bear but Mickey’s pal, Duffy, with his hand in front of his mouth to hide his giggles when he experiences our crazy family.  She spent hours decorating (Photo #2) and even had Duffy wearing a classic Mickey hat with his name embroidered on it!!  The result was phenomenal.  It looked just like Duffy, including the Mickey shaped pads on his feet and lower back. (Photo #3). Thank you for getting her creative juices flowing.  We look forward to her doing something Disney for Christmas!!  As Makena said while decorating Duffy, ‘As Walt said, ‘If you can dream it, you can do it’.  I dreamt it and now I am doing it!’”

I am sure you will all agree with me that Makena really embraced the Disney spirit this Thanksgiving–and that she has quite a future as a cake decorator, too!!  :D  Makena will receive a WDW Radio prize pack for her amazing work on this contest!

Stay tuned for our next “Our Home Went Disney” contest, being published soon!!!

  2. That is so cool! You have a lot of talent and should keep it up! I know many people would love to see a Makena-ified cake someday at the Main Street Bakery. :)
