I'm very sad. ):
I've been SO excited that Starbucks is coming to Disney, after all it's the happiest place on Earth, right?
But after reading all the negative comments on here and in other places, it's kinda....a let down.
I get that not everyone likes theBucks for their roast, but Nescafé is also a corporate brand of coffee that is sold in Malls and is even a bigger name outside the US.
To roast your own brand isn't an easy task- especially for the large amount of guests that frequent the Parks on a regular basis. But what if its not as vile as everyone is making it out to be? What if Starbucks and Disney could work together to roast something like a "Main Street Roast" that could be served daily?
And I know there is fear about the Bakery part, but Disney doesn't look like they're doing away with those.... and Starbucks pastries are baked and shipped locally, so wouldn't it stand to reason that the treats will be also made by Disney?
And then, what's exciting, is that the Baristas are trained to match the best treats with the best roast. It's like wine....different foods bring out different tastes of the coffee....so what if they will serve the roast that goes with a cinnamon roll or Mickey Krispy?
If they are clearly keeping the theming, the costumes, and will have minimal signage, how can that be anymore distracting that the construction that was going on forever? I don't think we're really going to be able to tell (no bright green awnings, aprons, or logos).
If the Baristas are trained properly, then it should be a quick, efficient, friendly staff (just like before) but now serving a different type of coffee, with knowledge about how each roast pairs w each pastry.

I love you Lou BUT I was hoping you would have included the option
"Hate the whole idea (Keep the original Main Street Bakery) on your survey. There has been alot of chatter on Disney discussion boards and most people hate the idea (contrary to your skewed answers of your survey). In my opinion, we all go to Disney to get away from everyday life. Step back in time and appreciate the simplicity and innocence of the Main Street USA era. There is a Starbucks in every corner in EVERY town and city in America. Clearly this is an issue off Disney partnering up with a big obnoxious corporation and downgrading the simplicity and magic of Main street USA. I like Starbucks and sure is there room for it at Downtown Disney, sure! But please this is all just a money making scheme. I find this news very disappointing. As dedicated visitors we pay 1000's of dollars year after year to visit WDW. We go because it is our escape from reality. Don't be fooled by the "dressed to the era" attire the employees will be wearing. It would be the equivalent of next seeing Casey's (base of main street) turn into a McDonalds. Would you like fries with that?

I'm not a daily Starbucks gal but I do love a fancy coffe drink while traveling and cannot stand the Nescafe swill so I am looking forward to it. It didn't have to be Starbucks but I am glad there's "real" coffee on the horizon!

As long as the locations are appropriately themed, I see more positives than negatives here. It's interesting that the DCA shop (Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe) will apparently only be a full-service Starbucks in the morning, switching to a Disney-menu cafe with only Starbucks Espressos later in the day.

I won't actually miss Nescafe, but there wasn't a choice for, "Starbucks is VILE". Disney would be better off straining the water from Bay Lake through old sweat socks and serving that. They don't need more commercial brand names in the park, they just need better coffee.

Dreadful idea. How can Disney remain 'magical' if a trip to the park is just like a trip to the mall?

Why can't they develop their own blend and a Disney-branded "chain" of coffee shops within the parks?

Only thing that would make me more excited is if they said that it was replacing the Nescafe completely! Miss having real coffee readily available at WDW. (Starbuck's new blonde blends is my favorite morning brew!)
