Top Tips to Get the Most out of Star Wars Weekends, David Prowse (Darth Vader) Interview, E-Ticket Event Info, Trivia Contest & more!

Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show – Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #273 for the week of May 6, 2012.

Star Wars Weekends returns to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World beginning May 18 and will once again be a destination event for Disney and Star Wars fans alike. Whether you’re 7 or 70 there is something for everyone, from celebrities, shows, parades, characters, merchandise and yes, even Star Wars-themed food. This week, we will share our Top Tips to Get the Most Out of Star Wars Weekends and give you practical advice on how to do, see, experience and enjoy all that the weekends have to offer.

And as long as we’re talking about Star Wars, in a special bonus segment, I’ll share an interview with someone I’ve waited more than 30 years to meet – Darth Vader. I had a chance to sit down with David Prowse, the man behind the mask in the original Star Wars trilogy to talk about his role, share stories about working on the films, and Star Wars Weekends at Walt Disney World.

I’ll have the answer and winner for last week’s Walt Disney World Trivia Question of the Week, and pose a new one for your chance to win a Disney prize package.

I’ll then have a few quick announcements, including information about the next WDW Radio Meet of the Month during Star Wars Weekends and more, and then play more of your voicemails at the end of the show. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s episode of the WDW Radio Show.

Thanks for listening! Be sure to tune in next week!

  1. Another great show from Lou and Glen! Also, just for clarification, the voice actor that performs the Galaxy of Voices show is James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan), not Dee Bradley Baker (Captain Rex). Easy mistake to make since they both have 3 names. 8o)

Also, the final TBA guest for Weekend 3 has, well, been anounced: Catherine Taber, the voice of Padme Amidala from the Clone Wars!

I agree with you and Glen. Enjoy riding Star Tours at the end of the night, after things have calmed down a little, in the park. I think we rode it 3 or 4 times in a row doing this, our last trip down. Hard to beat C3PO, doing the robot. That’s what I call stiff competition. LOL!

Great interview with David Prowse. Got a good laugh out of some of his stories. Especially liked his story of how he got to choose between playing Chewbacca (a big hairy gorilla) or Darth Vader. LOL! That was a good one. Amazing how much time went by, after the first Star Movie was made, before the two gentleman who played Darth Vader (David Prowse and James Earl Jones) actually met. Also got a kick out of David’s story about the stunt which involved throwing the Emperor down the shaft. Will never forget it. Fantastic!

Thanks again for another magnificent show, Lou!!!
