Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show – Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #282 for the week of July 8, 2012.

Hearing directly from you is one of the aspects of the show that I enjoy most, and being able to answer your questions, help you plan your next Walt Disney World vacation, or even just talk about Disney trivia and history makes this a two-way conversation, and hopefully helps you enhance your appreciation and enjoyment of the parks. So this week, I’m opening up the inbox again, and will answer your questions about boat rides in Walt Disney World, Shades of Green, the Haunted Mansion stretching room, Art of Animation, Premiere Passports, Disney Cruise Line Land/Sea vacations, Disney Honeymoon registry, planning a surprise party in Walt Disney World and much more.

I’ll then have the answer and winner for last week’s Walt Disney World Trivia Question of the Week, and pose a new question for your chance to win a Disney prize package!

Be sure and stay for the announcements, including information about the next WDW Radio Meet of the Month in Walt Disney World, our upcoming WDW Radio Cruise on the Disney Dream, the E-Ticket Event to kick off Epcot’s 30th Anniversary, as well as some of your voicemails at the end of the show. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s episode of the WDW Radio Show.

Thanks for listening! Be sure to tune in next week!

I surprised my now husband on his 31st birthday with breakfast at the Crystal Palace and a big birthday celebration there. He joined the parade with Tigger and danced like a true big kid. He had so much fun and we have to take our girls every trip. It’s not their birthday but they love it nonetheless.

I love the end of all your shows lou. you just set up the hole week for me in A good way.

  3. Tim says:

Stay at Fort Wilderness, get a fleet of boats and hit the Lake, set up a picnic on the beach…and then hit the tavern, followed by water parade from the beach.

  4. Justin says:

I would see if they are still doing the pirate themed fireworks cruise from the Contemporary.

  5. Pat says:

The ‘wildlife’ that has taken over Discovery Island? Let’s just say it: we’re talking about VULTURES. There’s nothing shameful about vultures. We’re all God’s creatures.

  6. RRWoody says:

In reference to the Shades of Green question…
We usually stay at the Shades of Green when we go to WDW. We were there in May and SOG does not have the internal Disney info Channels.

  7. Jill says:

I would arrange for a serenade by the Dapper Dans, right as they approach Main Street USA…maybe Mickey Mouse standing with a birthday cake..okay, maybe that’s my little dream..! 😉

  8. Sheila says:

I would loovvee to stay in the Castle. Then do everything the Kingdom has to offer.

  9. Meg Nodzon says:

I would still stick with the PotC idea. My thought would be to see if you could accomplish it through the celebrations cast members. Contact a Disney Dream Maker to make it happen. A little expensive, but totally worth it.

  10. Benny B says:

I always love the sound clips you play at the beginning of your show Lou! Keep em coming! 🙂 All for you on the Wilderness Lodge as well. Best Resort out there!!

  11. Jeremy McBryar says:

Great Show Lou, always a pleasure to hear your show and the theme song gets me ready for another trip:)

  12. Benny B says:

To surprise someone for a Disney World birthday i would organize a surprise party probably at their favourite restaurant at Disney. I know i’d love that.

We love talking about Tresure/Discovery Island. My now husband and I loved exploring Treasure Island back in 1976. We have a picture of us climbing on the little ship wreck that was by the shore line (I believe it has totally disintegrated now) We also explored the Island when we went to WDW for our Honeymoon in Jan 1978. After our daughters were born we had so much fun taking them to Discovery Island to watch the parrot show and have a parrot or two put on our arms, hunt for all the birds, little animals, fancy chickens, flamingos, huge tortoises, little lizards, and yes, vultures. We always made sure we bought the combo ticket for the Park (there was only the Magic Kingdom back then)and River Country and Discovery Island! The last year we went to River Country we had to hide our shoes because the vultures would fly over from the island and hop around on the beach, steal our shoes and try to fly away with with them! Funny sight. 😀
One year a Cast Member got on the launch with us with a little bundle in her arms. When we asked what she had, she let us peek in the blanket. It was a baby monkey! She said there was a special building on the island where they were doing some special breeding of monkeys that were going to be trained to help handicapped people. I’m going to take a guess that this was about 1987. Does anyone else know about this program?

I’m thinking a quiet/romantic birthday experience for my wife. Stay at the Beach Club Resort. Start out with a quiet dinner at Blue Zoo, followed by Ferrytale Wishes: A Fireworks Dessert Cruise. Begin the next day with a spa treatment, have a romantic lunch at the California Grill, then wrap it up with a tour around World Showcase.

Thanks again for another fantastic show, Lou and Beci!!!
