Everyone loves a parade, right?  And at the holidays, there is nothing more quintessentially magical than sitting on a sidewalk in Disney, with your family on either side, watching a parade go by as you sip some hot chocolate.  You can do it in the Magic Kingdom.  You can do it in Animal Kingdom. You can do it in the Studios (though admittedly, their parade needs some holiday spirit.)  You cannot, however, have that experience in EPCOT.  Not since the demise of Tapestry (sigh… I loved that parade) have we had that experience.

So, let’s be wanna-be Imagineers.  If YOU could help create an EPCOT holiday parade, what would it look like?  Where would it process?  Who would be in it?  Would you have Santa’s on stilts (shout out to the Sage of Time)?  Would there be massive puppets of the Christmas elves?  Would it feature holidays from around the world?  Share YOUR ideas in the comments below!

Merry Christmas in July!

It would have to include santas from around the world – or something from each countries major holiday. It would also have to have a float with singers from the Candlelight Processional (have the guest choirs audition and pick a different one each day — that would be an amazing perk for the choirs). Maybe even a float that would bring back memories of the lighted arch that used to be at the entrance to World Showcase (why can’t I remember it’s name — I loved it). I also think the main focus should be on all countries working together to form a peaceful world to live in.

If I could help create an EPCOT holiday parade, it would be at night. Each Pavilion would be decked out with tons of fairy lights (LED) like in the midnight holiday celebrations around the world. The parade would feature all the performers of World Showcase on floats–Voices of Liberty, British Invasion/British Revolution, Matsuriza, Mariachi Cobre, Off Kilter, Oktoberfest Musikanten, Serveur Amusant, Spirit of America Fife & Drum Corps, the respective Disney Characters who greet at each Pavilion, and all the other musical performers from UK, Italy and China Pavilions.

    My Epcot Parade

I would bring back the Sage of Time, as the leader of the parade,
then a sign would follow him with the name of the parade.

The first float of course would have the one and only DreamFinder and Figment on it.

Each country will have their own float. Some will have their Disney charaters on board to bring a little Disney flare to the parade. The floats would have them doing what the country does to celebrate the holiday andon the back of the floats you will see the storytellers from each country as well.

I want to add some stilt walkers in the mix cause they are always fun to have.

So far thats all I have planed, but I loved the idea of making my own parade!

Lets look at the question in it’s most literal respect, a holiday parade. There are hundreds of holidays celebrated around the world throughout the year. Just off the top of my head:

There could be a parade developed around Columbus Day. The theme would be around explorers and its floats would be centered around international explorers (sea and space era).

There could be a parade that highlights inventors and innovators. There is actually an Inventor’s Day in early February. Each float could showcase either a revolutionary invention or an inventor. So, a float could be created with the theme of Edison and his many innovations.

They could make a Leaders of the US parade. It would highlight presidents, civil rights leaders, military legends and other influential people from US history. This parade could be done for a couple weeks surrounding Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans’ Day.
