Interview with Paige O’Hara, the voice of Belle, Trivia Contest and more

Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show – Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #286 for the week of August 5, 2012.

This past weekend, I attended the PNW MouseMeet, an annual fan event which takes places in the Pacific Northwest, and once again had the privilege of interviewing a true Disney Legend. On this week’s show, I’ll share my interview with the voice of Belle from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Paige O’Hara. We’ll discuss her career, the role of Belle, creating the film, and much more.

I’ll then have the answer and winner for last week’s Walt Disney World Trivia Question of the Week, and pose a new question for your chance to win a Disney prize package!

Be sure and stay for the announcements, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s episode of the WDW Radio Show.

Thanks for listening! Be sure to tune in next week!

  1. Marsha Baughan says:

Great show, Lou! My favorite song is BELLE…. it sets the scene for the rest of the movie and introduces how the character is seen by the town…

  2. Sarah C. says:

i really enjoyed the interview Lou!

  3. Jerry Schneiderman says:

Another great show Lou!. My favorite song has to be ‘Be Our Guest’. It never fails to bring a smile to my face, no matter how down my day is going.

  4. Shannon says:

my favorite song is Human Again from the special edition ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Sheila says:

I would say Angela Lansbury , as Mrs. Potts singing “Tale as Old As Time”

  6. Hokeyboy says:

Quick question Lou: GREAT interview with Ms. O’Hara, but I’m puzzled about one thing. Right after a fan asks her to sing and she rather graciously obliges with a few lines from ‘Belle’, the crowd applauses, and she says that next time she’ll do better with a little warm up. Right at that moment, someone off-mic, in the audience I’m assuming, belts out a rather loud and extremely odd ‘OOOH-AHHHH EEEEEE-AHHHHH!” Even Paige laughs a little bit at it.

    What *was* that??

  7. Daniela V says:

Best Beauty and the Beast Song? GASTON! Some one has to give a shout out to one of the best villains.

  8. Anonymous says:

Hey, Lou. Please make things even by doing interviews with the other princess voice actresses, including Irene Bedard (Pocahontas), Ming-Na (Mulan), Anika Noni Rose (Tiana), Mandy Moore (Rapunzel), Jodi Benson (Ariel), Jennifer Hale (Cinderella and Aurora) and Katie Von Till (Snow White).

And while you’re at it, an interview with Belle’s new voice actress, Julie Nathanson, would be a smart idea as well, to complete the picture.

  9. Susan says:

Anonymous I love your idea but is the actress that voiced Snow White still alive?Oh and my favorite Beauty and the Beast song is Human again,I wish it was in the original version not just the special edition. ๐Ÿ™

  10. Chuck Zitta says:

There’s something about the song, Belle.

Actually, I think it’s the whole opening setting, plus the song, that always put me in the right frame of mind to enjoy the movie. Love the tiny little village vibe! It’s a very lighthearted moment in the movie, very Disney, with a little humor thrown in. When I think of this movie, it’s the first song that jumps to mind, for me.

Thanks again for another fantastic show, Lou!!!
