The Epcot Food and Wine Festival is a huge event for many WDW fans. This year, it runs from September 28 through November 12, 2012! The idea of it is to basically “wine and dine” your way around World Showcase while being entertained by live stage performers and other scheduled events!

As a vegan, Epcot’s annual Food and Wine Festival never seemed like an option for me. Well, if you feel the same way for the same reason, you’ll be pretty excited to learn that there is a brand new vegan food kiosk being introduced this year!

It’s called Terra and not only does it offer an option for vegan visitors to WDW, but it also offers a chance for non-vegan travelers to sample a taste of vegan bites (and maybe even learn a thing or two, such as, it’s good to try new things!)

Terra features Gardein products (which, unfortunately for me, contain gluten) and “wines from organic and sustainable Paul Dolan Winery in Mendocino County. Plus, a dairy-free, lactose-free Berry smoothie will be offered!” (DisneyFoodBlog)

As far as food goes, the menu extensively includes a “chicken” curry with rice, chili with cashew “cheese,” and chocolate cake with sorbet and coconut foam! For wine they are offering a Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, along with a non-alcoholic Silk Berry Smoothie! My mouth is watering just thinking about it all!

So far all the information I’ve shared comes from www.DisneyFoodBlog.com, but now I’m going to add in my own little twist because Lou, Christy, and Tony will be visiting Terra during their Food and Wine Fest tour! Christy has volunteered to take pictures and sample some food just for us for the “Fish Are Friends, Not Food,” blog! So, what will a non-vegan learn and think about eating vegan? Stay tuned in the upcoming weeks to find out!

Angie has been a WDW addict since her first visit at age 8, and since then her life has never been the same! She lives in upstate NY with her boyfriend, Kevin (fellow Disney lover), and their 3 dogs, Flip, Josie, and Hildy, where she works at Farm Sanctuary as an animal caregiver. Please join Angie every week in “Fish Are Friends, Not Food: Eating Vegan in WDW!” Angie believes that WDW is the most magical place for people with special diets, so, should you have any special diet questions (especially about vegan and gluten-free dining) she’d be happy to help!

I am a vegan and attended the food and wine festival last weekend. The food at Terra was really and truly delicious. I would however save the $3.75 for the Smoothie. It was good but it was just a Silk berry drink poured right out of the carton. Unfortunately I literally could not find one other vegan offering at any other food booth. I also use the website http://www.barniviore.com to check if beers and wines are vegan and many at the festival use isinglass which is a fish bladder that many places use to clarify wine and beer. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the festival but got our main meal at Sunshine Seasons.

    Sorry. Stupid iPhone. It’s http://www.barnivore.com.

  3. Tracy- I’m glad you went and liked it! And thank you, I will check out the link! I stay away from wines with isinglass as well, so it’s nice to know they thought of everything for the booth! Are you going on the Dream Cruise in November?
