Pooh Crew – I agree it would be terrible to see the attraction ever be torn down! But an update or a refurbishment soon would be nice.

Makena – Next time you are in WDW you HAVE to ride at least once!

Sadly, I have never rode this ride! (Waits for the booing from the crowd). Hopefully next time I will finally be able to go on the adventure through movies.

We love the Great Movie Ride – A must do at DHS. At 4 pm most days – there is no line. We leasurely walk though the amazing movie props till we embark on the journey through movie adventures. We hope the ride may improve, but never torn down and replaced with something which is not movie related.

George – I’ve never heard anything about the Sorcerer’s Hat being added due to copyright laws. As far as I know it was added strictly as part of the 100 Years of Magic celebration in 2001 to commemorate the Sorcerer’s Apprentice classic animated clip in Fantasia. In terms of who complained about the addition of the hat, it’s just some of the Disney fan community in general.

Fran – The Mary Poppins scene is great! And you get a little spoonful of sugar with the merry-go-round horse prop from the movie on display in the first room of the queue.

Kendall – I agree that it’s great that there is a mix of films from all different studios as opposed to the ride strictly featuring Disney’s work. In terms of including other franchises, I believe that in the final move montage at the end of the attraction there are clips of both James Bond and Lord of the Rings featured. You’re also right about the remainder of classic movies sparking interest in new generations as I was inspired as a child by the attraction to fall in love with such films as Casablanca and Public Enemy!

Angie – Totally agree on how great the Wizard of Oz scene is! You really feel like you are on the Yellow Brick Road!

Mu favorite scene in TGMR…. hhmmm… I think the Wizard of Oz scene is most impressive and makes me feel the most like I’m in disney. I think I’ll have to go with that as my favorite!

I love the Singin’ In The Rain scene because it is one of my favorite movies. One thing I have always loved about the great movie ride was that it is not all Disney movies. I think it is neat that other studios were willing to let Disney portray their films. It would be really cool if they could reach a licensing agreement with some other successful/classic franchises like James Bond, The Lord of the Rings, Mission Impossible, etc. However, I think the majority of the ride should stay the same. Even if some of us from the younger generation do not readily know the movies, it peaks our intrest to go see why they are considered “great”.

Hello, I also like to visit the Great Movie Ride every time I visit (which is often). I read many years ago that Disney had to put the Hat in order to block out the GMR because of some copyright laws. iS THAT TRUE? And who complained. Thank you again for the article. I enjoyed it.
