Hi Everyone! In keeping with the Mary Poppins theme, I want to share a super quick DIY remedy for beating the dry winter weather: Make your own sugar scrub. It’s super cheap and super effective in sloughing off and moisturizing at the same time. So let’s get mixing together!

A Spoonful of Sugar Scrub

  • 2 cups Sugar (I like Domino, Florida Crystals, and Sugar in the Raw)
  • 1 cup Olive Oil, organic if possible (I like Colavita), or other carrier oil
  • 8-10 drops of Essential Oil (optional~I don’t always add this)
  • Small spoon
  • 1 or 2, 8-16 oz. glass containers (preferably air tight)

Add all ingredients in a non-reactive bowl and mix well to incorporate. Store in an air tight container for up to two weeks. Use a small spoon for your new sugar scrub. The sugar exfoliates the skin, while the olive oil moisturizers it. It smells so good alone. But adding essential oil, makes it an aromatherapy treat.

To Use Scrub

~Spoon out portions of the scrub for the different spots you want to target. Try not to over rub. Rinse well off your skin. Do not use on face or on areas with cuts.

~I keep some at the kitchen sink to give my hands extra pampering when they are dry and lotions and creams aren’t cutting it.

~Use caution and clean your shower or bathtub thoroughly. The oil in the scrub will cause those surfaces to become very slippery.

If you would like to give your scrub as a gift, you can use this digital freebie I created just for you:
