Disney Princess Half Marathon 2013 Recap

More than 36,000 runners during the Walt Disney World Princess Half Marathon weekend, the largest weekend total in the race’s five-year history. The runDisney weekend included the Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Royal Family 5K, Kids’ Races and Disney’s Fit for a Princess Expo in addition to Disney’s Princess Half Marathon.

Share in the memories, the joys, the laughter, tears and proud accomplishments of the WDW Radio Running Team, which raises money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America through Lou Mongello’s Dream Team Project.

Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend is one of seven annual runDisney events and the second women-focused event, with the other being the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland.

The original event in the runDisney series, the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, takes place in January followed by the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend in February, Expedition Everest Challenge in May, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler in September and the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend in November. Disneyland hosts the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend in January and the Disneyland Half Marathon in September during Labor Day Weekend.

I ran into a group of women, who had run the WDW Princess Half Marathon, at a Half Marathon in New Hampshire. They were all wearing the t-shirts from the race, reading “Suck it up Princess” on the back. It was hilarious.
