shopDisney: Odds and Ends from Friends

by Alyssa Wiseman

I was desperately attempting to find a theme for this week’s post but was unable to find a good fit.  Instead, this post will focus on products people have written to me about that they discovered while shopping.  While I haven’t seen many of these items myself, I thought they were worth sharing.

Monsters University Play Sets at Toys “R” Us

1Thanks to the wonderful Christy Viszoki (she really works hard on many different aspects of WDW Radio and deserves a lot of credit for the events and blogs she helps organize), I learned that there are several different play sets all made by Imaginext and all centered around different locations in the Monsters University movie.  From the picture, they each look like they focus on a location (mom’s van, city bus, frat houses) and also come with the characters central to that particular location.  While writing this post, I did a quick internet search and all that Toys “R” Us had available on the website were the University Scare Game and Mid University Row.  They were also a bit expensive at $44.99 and $29.99, respectfully.  Nonetheless, if you or your kids are fans of the movie, these are for you!

Tupperware

I am very sad that I no longer have a Disney kitchen, but I might need to find some way to incorporate these products into my house.  Thanks again to Christy, she let me know that Tupperware sells different Disney items.  From the time I received her suggestion about these to when I looked on their website, the products had already changed.  So, I am posting the link here to their website and search results when I searched for “Mickey.”  I also ran a search for “Disney” and got different products than when I just did one character!!  They are all just adorable.

Disney Duct Tape

Time to move in style!!  Start taping with…….Disney Duck Tape!  That is right, in May of this year, the Ducktape brand released 3 different styles of Disney-branded tape 2featuring Mickey, Minnie, and Tink!!  These would really make a style statement in taping up a box to be mailed or moved.  I did look at my local Walmart but did not see any of the Disney rolls on their shelves.

One interesting use for this tape would be to enter the Ducktape prom dress contest and then use this tape as the pattern or embellishment on your dress!!  (If that does happen, please send WDW Radio an email with your creation).

Minnie Necklace Holder

Another reader and good friend, Beth Thompson, sent this picture to me during her recent trip to Disney World.  This is a Minnie necklace/earring holder that I NEED to buy the next time I am at the parks!  I think it is classy and useful.  Thank you so much Beth for the amazing product tip!

Disney and Old Navy

There was a release this week about some additional designs and shirts at Old Navy.  I have posted a link to the company’s website, which shows their “retro” designs. I plan on visiting the store in the next week to see how I really like the designs.

That is it for this week and I hope that it has given you some ideas about new products that are being offered.

If you have any suggestions for products that you would like me to share with the WDW Radio family, please send me an e-mail at: ajwiseman09@gmail.com!  I would love to share your thoughts.  All I ask is that you send me a picture, pricing information, what you thought of the product, and where you bought or saw it.

Until next time…..keep shopping Disney-style!

shopDisney is a bi-weekly blog that will focus on Disney merchandise and products sold in the parks, in Disney stores, and in other retail markets.  We will explore product reviews, affordability, and to whom the products are marketed.  Like any other good product review, we will conclude with a rating scale for several different key components: price, age group, and whether the product is a “must have.”
