WDWRadio-Logo-with-URLWhat IS a Food & Wine Quest???  It is a competitive multi-media adventure, held on SATURDAY OCTOBER 5, to discover as much as you can about EPCOT’s International Food and Wine Festival, and of course, have lots of fun, food, and laughs along the way!

Participants in the WDW Radio Food & Wine Quest may compete alone or in a team of up to 4 participants, and will be given different challenges during the event. These challenges are all worth different point values.  The goal will be for you (and your team) to earn more points than the others (in the time provided) and earn the title of WDW Radio Food Connoisseur of the Year and win the coveted WDW Radio Cup.  Which challenges you choose, and in what order, will be completely up to you!

So what ARE these challenges?  Some will be fairly easy and straightforward: for example, find a food item (being served in a Food & Wine kiosk) that includes pork.  Easy, but not worth a lot of points.  Others will be more challenging–but worth more points: obtain a Food & Wine passport and have it stamped in at least 6 kiosks.

The challenges will vary and may require you to cooperate with other teams or individuals.  There is no way a team could complete all the challenges, so you will have to pick from the ones presented, keeping in mind that bonus opportunities will take place throughout the event.

So what did we mean when we said this is a multi-media adventure?  Well, we will be using some of the many forms of social media out there to make this a truly interactive activity.  While many of the challenges will be delivered traditionally–via paper–others will be available to you through social media: through Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.   You will have to carefully monitor the WDW Radio accounts, as you never know when there might be a “BONUS OPPORTUNITY” for you to earn points!

What else do I need to know?  

  • EPCOT admission is NOT included in the price of registration.  You MUST have your own admission into the park.

  • Participants should be willing and able to make their way through the World Showcase, regardless of the weather.

  • A small percentage of the challenges will ask you to purchase items from Food & Wine kiosks.  You do NOT have to choose to complete these challenges, but be aware that you may want to and so should have additional funds available.

  • Some challenges will be posted via social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook.)  You do not have to use these forms of social media–there will be plenty of challenges that do not require them.  However, please be aware that if you have a working knowledge of these applications, it may help you to earn more points.

  • Children are welcome to participate, but there must be at least one adult over the age of 21 within a team.

  • The event is open only to pre-registered attendees.

  • Quest materials distribution will begin at 10:30AM at the Electric Umbrella.  The challenges will officially begin at 11AM and conclude at 3PM at the American Adventure.  Participants will lose 5 points for every minute after 3:00PM they turn in their materials.  No materials will be accepted after 3:15PM

  • Participants are welcome to join in the WDW Radio Meet of the Month, being held at the American Adventure, from 3:00-4:30PM.

  • Winners will be announced at 4:30PM at the American Adventure.  In the event of a tie, a sudden death tasting challenge will take place between the involved teams.

  • Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 finishers.  The champions will receive the title of WDW Radio Food Connoisseurs of the Year and the coveted WDW Radio Cup, in addition to some other prizes.

  • All participants are expected to represent WDW Radio appropriately and remember the spirit of fun with which this event is presented.  Anyone caught behaving in a manner inappropriate will be disqualified from the competition.

  • Please note this event is truly limited in number of participants, so please don’t delay!

How do I sign up?

Registration for the quest begins on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 1:00 ET.  The link to register will be Tweeted out, posted on Facebook, and found on the events page of WDWRadio.com at 12:00 ET on Friday.  The registration fee is as follows:

  •     Individual participant:  $20
  •     Pair:  $30
  •     Trio:  $40
  •     Team of 4:  $50

    not that I will be able to come and play (husband may have car) but I don’t like loosing and only have money for a flip phone so I loose without the extra points available to others…..
