Top Ten Things We Love About Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort And Spa – September 1, 2013

Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show – Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #335 for the week of September 1, 2013.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa recently celebrated its 25th anniversary as the flagship resort in Walt Disney World. Elegant, opulent, majestic, and romantic are just a few of the words used to describe this Victorian-themed resort. This week, we’ll add a few more words to that list as we explore our Top Ten Things We Love About Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. In addition to our favorites, we’ll hopefully introduce you to a few things you have not ever thought or known about before.

I’ll have the answer to our last Walt Disney World Trivia Question of the Week, and pose a new challenge for your chance to win a Disney prize package.

Stay tuned as I’ll have some updates and announcements and more of your voicemails at the end of the show. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s episode of the WDW Radio Show.

Thanks for listening! Be sure to tune in next week!

– Lou Mongello

Always loved the Grand Floridian,,,, stopping in for tea at the Garden tea room, is a great way to relax, We enjoy the breakfast options at the Grand Floridian Cafe,, This last May I was surprised for my birthday ( by my wonderful husband) with our first stay at the resort. The room was just wonderful,,,I could see the monorail from our balcony as it came by,,( I loved that ).. We will stay there again for sure. I loved the Cinderella Carriage picking up the brides, so beautiful..The fact that you can hop on the monorial and…. next stop MAGIC KINGDOM. doesn’t get much better then that.

I have not stay at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. I hope one day I can win some room nights so I can experience such a wonderful Resort. I always wanted to stay hope someday WDW Radio able to get a great promotion for us to join.

  3. Dan Luciano says:

I stayed ther once. When my wife and I got off the Magical Express Bus, we were pulled aside and upgraded to to concierge level with a view of the lake. I couldn’t belive it.
But I have been visiting the GF for years. I like to go there and just sit in the lobby at night and listen to the music, and then I go over to Narcoosee’s for a drink and watch wishes on their porch.

  4. Mark C. says:

We had an opportunity to stay at The Grand Floridian for the very first time in July. It was fantastic. One of the aspects my family really enjoyed was all the Hidden Mickeys scattered throughout the resort. In the floor decorations, the carpets, the wallpaper, even the bedspreads. I had to keep my kids from walking into things because every time we went into the main building they stared at the floor.

  5. Bill C. says:

Our 25th Grand Floridian stay is scheduled for December. We have kept coming back since our first visit in 2002 because, well, here are ten reasons why (in no special order, except for #1):

    1) the Cast Members
    2) Victoria & Alberts
    3) the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra
    4) Narcoosees
    5) pianist Christian
    6) the architecture
    7) Christmas time in the lobby
    8) the Presidential Suite
    9) the Roy Disney Suite
    10 “Teddy Bear”

  6. Fred A. says:

We have never stayed at the Grand Floridan but have enjoyed character dining there and the lobby and the grounds. While staying at the Polynesian we enjoyed walks back and forth to the Grand Floridian. That ability and having the Magic Kingdom right there really give you so many great experiences.

  7. MIke says:

We had a great time there. Food was excellent. After my wife left me I had to downgrade to Pop Century, I just could not afford it anymore.

  8. Cindy Alford says:

just booked DVC room for spring break April 2014!!!! can’t wait and hope to see some of you there:)

  9. Nick says:

just wanted to say I’ve used Garden Grocer my last four trips and it was prfeect! Worked without a hitch! They texted me as we were getting off the plane that our groceries had been delivered (We always stay at Coronado Springs and they hold them in a refridgerator for you) when we get to our room we call and have them brought up. We save a TON of money on bottled water alone. (Think about it a bottle of water from the machine is at least $2. Four people in your party, four bottles of water a day at least for a week that’s almost $60 a case of water at the store is around $10 you do have to pay the delivery fee if you’re less than $200 but even at $20 for a case of water it’s still less money. And we buy munchies for our pool days

  10. Chuck Zitta says:

Never stayed at the Grand Floridian. Have only passed by it via the Monorail and the boats to and from the Poly/MK. So thus far, my favorite part of the Grand Floridian resort would have to be the exterior! I must say, it does have a very “Grand” presence (pun intended). The location is pretty awesome as well.

Not sure I will ever stay there, simply because my favorite resort area to stay would be over by Crescent Lake (Beach Club Resort, etc.). Like the convenience of this location as it pertains to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

Always enjoy listening to the top tens.

Thanks again for another “grand” show, Lou and Tim!!!
