Listener Email – October 20, 2013

disney-world-questions Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show – Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #340 for the week of October 20, 2013. I’ll open up the inbox this week and answer more of your emails, including questions about the Walk Around the World bricks, Disney’s Magical Express, where to find attraction back stories, Duffy and his lady friend, best quick service dining locations, my recommended Disneyland restaurants, Mickey’s Backyard BBQ, My Magic bands, and my favorite moderate resort in Walt Disney World. We’ll also debate the best steak on property, and then I’ll look for your feedback and opinions about what resort you wouldn’t mind being “trapped” in for the weekend. I’ll have the answer to our last Walt Disney World Trivia Question of the Week, and pose a new challenge for your chance to win a Disney prize package. Stay tuned as I’ll have some updates and announcements and more of your voicemails at the end of the show. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s episode of the WDW Radio Show. Thanks for listening! Be sure to tune in next week! – Lou Mongello http://LouMongello.com

  1. Maureen says:

Will you be giving out the links to the books you recommended in this show? Thanks!

  2. jeremy says:

If i had to be trapped anywhere it would be the grand floridian. Great food, monorail, and amazing ambaunce, what else could u want. thanks for all you do and keep up the show. thanks.

  3. Jazz1637 says:

Wow, that’s a tough one! I will have to say The Beach Club or Baylake. I would love the view of the Magic kingdom while I’m trapped.

  4. Elaine says:

It’s the Polynesian for us. The landscaping is so gorgeous. We really feel like we are on vacation there as it is so different from the Northeast where we live. We would be able to hear the MK train whistle, take a launch or monorail to MK, see the fireworks from the beach. Good food, good shopping and the beautiful lobby to enjoy while drinking morning coffee and looking out the windows at Seven Seas Lagoon.

  5. Maureen says:

I would have to go with Wilderness Lodge. We love that resort! The scenery and the Lobby are enough to keep me entertained while being trapped there.

  6. Dan Luciano says:

I didn’t think i would ever disagree with you, but i have eaten pretty much everywhere in Disney, and you are crazy if you think that place is romantic. It’s dark, but that doesn’t equal romanatic. And yes, the steak is fantastic, if you bring a flashlight with you so you can read the football menu.
    Becky is right.
also, Hands down, i want to be trapped at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I could sit in that lobby for days and never get sick of Boma’s

  7. Stephen.S ( WDWGenius) says:

The Disney Hotel I would want to be “trapped” tough one either Yacht club for the pool or the Poly for the fireworks and the sounds coming from MK

  8. Beci Mahnken says:

    Dan — You are a wise man. : )

  9. AJ Minotti says:

It’s tough, but I’d choose the Poly as well. Between the food, pool, beach, views, paths, shows, and dole whips, I think I could easily spend a weekend “trapped” there.

  10. Bob Smith says:

Your mention of Trails End reminded me I wanted to say it was great to meet you at the kids playground outside Trail’s End on Friday 10/11. Thanks for spending a few minutes talking with my wife and myself.

After finally staying at the Poly I would vote for it as the resort to be trapped at. The casual atmosphere there is great and viewing the fireworks and water pageant are huge pluses.

  11. Susie D says:

I would definitely choose the Beach Club!!! The atmosphere of Stormalong Bay and Beaches and Cream, with Illuminations and the Boardwalk right nearby? I would gladly get stuck there for even longer than a weekend!

  12. Kim b. says:

    Grand Floridian hands down!

  13. Craig Hargrove says:

Has to be the Wilderness Lodge.

  14. Tony says:

Definitely the Poly for me too for the reasons other people have stated (come on now, who doesn’t want the dole whip?), but also for the nostalgia. We stayed there many times when I was a kid.

  15. Kendall Foreman (MoretotheWorld) says:

Whenever I stay at the Polynesian, I often wish my vacation was long enough that I could be “trapped” there for a couple of days. With so much to do at the WDW parks, I feel like I never get to spend enough time at the resort. I could shoot half a day laying in the zero entry end of the pool! The Polynesian is such a wonderful environment that just begs for you to stop, spend time, and relax.

  16. Kathy says:

Depending upon the time of year; I would choose the Animal Kingdom Lodge in the winter or The Beach Club in the summer!!

  17. Wendy says:

Y/B Club – I could easily live off the food served and feel like I am stranded on a an island, including a shipwreck!

  18. Terry Hronek says:

By far the Wilderness Lodge, Yellowstone Suite is the best place to stay. Two entrances, one of which is hidden to let you escape and go down a back elevator. Full kitchen, dining room, office, living room 2 bathrooms, whirlpool, 3 outside balconies. The best room I ever stayed in with the best service anywhere in the world. Pricey, but worth every penny.
