This week I will be featuring the Plaza Restaurant, on the corner of Main Street, tucked behind the Main Street ice cream parlor. My family has eaten there several times before and we already have dining reservations for the Plaza in December! Our favorite thing about the Plaza can be summed up in one word: easy. It is never a hassle to get dining reservations and usually you are able to even walk-in for lunch or dinner. It really is a “hidden gem” because most people do not know much about it and it makes for a stress-free getaway from the hustle and bustle of Magic Kingdom for a little while. Not to mention, the food is delicious and inexpensive (by Disney standards) at under $15 per meal.

Plaza Restaurant is decorated like a typical turn-of-the-century restaurant with red and white and gold colors, mirrors, and marble adorning the rooms. The restaurant features a main dining room and an attached sunroom that offer window seats with a spectacular view of Cinderella’s castle. I’ve had friends swear by the great view of the Main Street Electrical Parade and the fireworks from their table at the Plaza.

The menu is actually quite simple, offering mostly sandwiches, but the simplicity is paired with good quality meals. Menu items include things like a Reuben, club sandwich, tuna sandwich, vegetarian sandwich, turkey sandwich, grilled chicken sandwich, cheeseburger, cheesesteak,  and chicken strawberry salad. My absolute favorite thing about the Plaza is the milkshakes offered. The best milkshakes in my opinion are the Cookies and Cream or Mint Chocolate Chip milkshakes. Don’t worry if milkshakes aren’t up your alley, they also offer banana splits, cheesecake, and brownie sundaes.

Overall, the good food, affordable prices, and great location make the Plaza Restaurant a perfect option for a day in Magic Kingdom!

This week’s recipe is for a special drink at the Plaza! Brought to you by http://www.magicalrecipes.net/mrpages/plaza-restaurant/walts-favorite-chocolate-soda-recipe.aspx.

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Kristin has taken many a family vacations as a child driving 24 hrs, cramped in the back of the car and fighting with her sister to get to Disney (definitely worth it though). She looks forward to sharing “A taste of Disney” with everyone each week.
