shopDisney is a bi-weekly blog that will focus on Disney merchandise and products sold in the parks, in Disney stores, and in other retail markets. We will explore product reviews, affordability, and to whom the products are marketed. Like any other good product review, we will conclude with a rating scale for several different key components: price, age group, and whether the product is a “must have.”
I have to admit that I am writing this blog post while standing in line for attractions at Walt Disney World a few weeks ago and will be honest that it is the best place to author a shopping piece! I would take typing on my phone while waiting any day over sitting at my desk at home.
Beautifully Disney – Fantasy in Flight Release
When I got to Disney the first stop was Lou Mongello’s Meet of the Month. While I was there another WDW Radio blogger, Fran Cassano sent me a text to alert me that Beautifully Disney was having a launch party for a new color palette over at Tren-D at Downtown Disney and since I was right there, I decided to head over and take a look. I had previously discussed my feelings about the Beautifully Disney collection (see this post: http://www.wdwradio.com/2013/05/shopdisney-walt-disney-world-merchandise-update/#.UpK40ni9LCQ). I had mentioned in that post that I wasn’t too impressed with the quality of the products for Disney’s pricing. However, I felt that I should give the readers a glimpse of the new collection.
When I got to the store a very nice cast member let me know that they were doing free makeovers and also doing nails outside in the courtyard. I had already done my makeup for the day and didn’t want it to be taken off, so I went over to just look at the new colors. Compared to the last collection, this one is light and sparkly. The colors seem more whimsical than the previous ones. One product that they mentioned they are selling now is eyeliner; however, as of right now this product is only included in a set with other makeup items!
The one item I fell in love with was the brush set that they are now offering. The first collection debuted with a brush set that was all black with hot pink tipped brushes, but this new collection has gold plastic handles and the actual brush part is light pink.
I decided to take the makeup artists up on their offer and have my nails done. There was a little area outside the Tren-D store and the line was only 3 people deep so that made things better. They were using the 4 new colors that debuted with the Fantasy in Flight collection. I chose the gold shimmery one and was not disappointed. I actually loved he color so much that went to purchase it when I got to the Magic Kingdom, but then saw that one bottle of it cost $11.95!! I love nail polish and have a massive collection at home, so I know that a good brand can cost around $10; however, spending that much on a bottle of nail polis from Disney was not going to happen. Not when I wasn’t sure how it would wear.
Later: I am kind of happy that I did not purchase the nail polish as, after a day and a half, it was already chipping off. I will say that I did not have a top coat and understand that it was a glitter polish that will wear a little different, but I already bought a similar color the other day when we were doing some vacation shopping at Target!
I hope you have enjoyed this look at the new color palette and thanks again for Fran for the tip to check out the release!
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a wonderful time with family and friends. Remember to keep doing your Christmas shopping Disney-style!
