Disney From The Twenty-Something: Sunshine Seasons

Caitlin CorselloWhile Walt Disney World® has some amazing dining options, my favorite place to go for a quick-service meal is Epcot® ’s Sunshine Seasons. Located on the bottom floor of The Land Pavilion, Sunshine Seasons offers up breakfast, lunch, and dinner featuring fresh ingredients and a wide variety of flavors and tastes. If you haven’t eaten there before, I hope this article convinces you to try it!

Sunshine Seasons features tons of different size tables and booths in an open air market type environment as it is located right in the middle of The Land. Above the dining area, there is an atrium with beautiful sunlight streaming in at almost any time of the day. There are also balloons located overhead depicting the theme of The Land– the four seasons and how they influence the world around us. Just sitting in Sunshine Seasons is enjoyable, but the food makes it amazing.

Before getting into menu options offered, I should share what has become sort of like my “game plan” for eating at Sunshine Seasons no matter what meal or time of day. I like to go into The Land and first get a FastPass for Soarin’. (Although now with the new FastPass+ system, you can reserve your FastPass ahead of time without even having to pay a visit to the attraction until you are ready to ride.) After getting my FastPass, I like to take my time perusing the menu of Sunshine Seasons, and finally, sit down and enjoy my meal. Once full and satisfied, I hop aboard Living with the Land for a relaxing boat ride, and upon disembarking (if timed well), it is usually about time for my Soarin’ FastPass to be used. I love this system as it allows me to experience everything The Land has to offer including some delicious food!

Caitlin CorselloNow let’s get to the important part- the food! The restaurant is set up in a series of stations which each have four to five offerings. So be sure to check out everything being offered before ordering. Breakfast at Sunshine Seasons features a Breakfast Panini with Eggs, Bacon, Roast Pork, Cheese, and Breakfast Potatoes which I have had once and it was pretty delicious! In addition, there are also danishes, oatmeal, muffins, croissants, cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, assorted caffeinated beverages, bagels, yogurt, and cereal. Pretty much anything you could want for a quick-service breakfast, you can find it here.

While I have found breakfast to be delicious, Sunshine Seasons really shines during lunch and dinner when there are so many options to choose from it can take you a long time to decide. Some options include Mongolian Beef with Vegetable Fried Rice, Oak Grilled Chicken with Black Bean and Yellow Rice, Steak and Blue Cheese Sandwich with Potato Salad, Chicken Salad with Oak Fried Chicken, and Roasted Beets and Goat Cheese Salad with Honey Sherry Dressing. My favorite offering is the Turkey, Monterey Jack, and Chipotle Mayonnaise on Ciabatta Sandwich with Potato Salad. It is massive, but so delicious. As you can see, there is a huge range in food being offered. From Asian inspired flavors to healthy fresh salads, there is definitely going to be an option to please even the pickiest eaters. Guests can also have pretty much any beverage they can think of including beer and wine. Sunshine Seasons is also one of the only quick-service dining locations at WDW that offers free refills on soft drinks, so go ahead and get your money’s worth if you order a soda.

Caitlin CorselloAnd be sure to save room after your meal for the desserts, which taste ridiculously fresh and are out of this world. By far, my recommendation for dessert would be the Strawberry Shortcake which features a rich cake, fluffy whipped cream layers, and fresh strawberries. It’s also big enough to share, although it’s so good you might want one all for yourself. Other bakery dessert options include Key Lime Tarts, S’mores Brownies, Crème Brulee, and an assortment of cupcakes. Really, what is a vacation meal without dessert? So try and save room for some of these tasty treats.

From hot breakfasts to endless options for lunch and dinner, Sunshine Seasons offers up some of the best quick-service dining options at WDW and definitely is worth a visit if you have never been. If you have a favorite meal from Sunshine Seasons definitely let me know as I am always looking for new food to try while on vacation!
