shopDisney: HARVEYS Seatbeltbags

shopDisney is a bi-weekly blog that will focus on Disney merchandise and products sold in the parks, in Disney stores, and in other retail markets.  We will explore product reviews, affordability, and to whom the products are marketed.  Like any other good product review, we will conclude with a rating scale for several different key components: price, age group, and whether the product is a “must have.”

This topic has been brewing in my mind for a while, but finally, I decided it was time to write about it.  If you haven’t ever heard of the HARVEYS Seatbeltbag brand, they are amazing.  My attention was first brought to them before the D23 Expo last August when it was announced that they would be a vendor, and I began doing some research into their products.

Traveling out to California last August, I was able to see many of HARVEYS’ Disney branded bags in various Disneyland® and Disney’s California Adventure® shops.  Thinking back to stores in Walt Disney World®, their bags are also offered at Uptown Jewelers on Main Street, USA.

You might ask, what is a seatbeltbag?  Well, imagine your normal seat belts being dyed into every color of the rainbow and then sewn (or sometimes braided) into some pretty heavy-duty bags and purses.  HARVEYS doesn’t stop there, they then also put graphics onto the actual fabric of the seatbelts, and Disney is the main source they use for graphics!  HARVEYS has an entire collection dedicated to Disney, and they are all magically adorable.

Some of the bag designs that we saw in the stores and on display at the Expo were quite well themed and very fashionable.  For example, the bag that looks like Mickey Mouse’s pants, also features, on the opposite side of the bag the polka dot design that you would find on Minnie Mouse.  It even has little ruffles on the top of the bag!  So you have both Mickey and Minnie to choose from depending on your mood for the day.

The bag with red handles and numerous different designs is a good example of the different graphics that they offer on their bags and accessories.  Its a very busy-looking bag, but Mickey isn’t always one to be a calm design topic.

After seeing the bags in person, I couldn’t stop talking about them, and my husband decided to give me one for my birthday!  I love the bag even more in person.  They are very durable (have you ever seen a torn seatbelt?), which makes the actual bag a little heavier than normal, but it wasn’t anything that I was reluctant to carry around.  There was a surprise Inside of my Harvey Baginside my bag that I wasn’t expecting!  Inside the bag, printed on the lining was a little Mickey and Minnie cartoon of them kissing!!

The pricing on these bags are anywhere from $96.00 to $267.00, but I think a majority of that pricing is because the bags are made right here in the United States!  Their company is located and run from Southern California, which makes it a nice product to buy and be able to support the manufacturers that are located in our country!

My Harvey Bag!I hope you have enjoyed a small look into the HARVEYS Seatbeltbag world.  They do have additional bags other than Disney ones, and I would recommend that you visit their website at: http://www.seatbeltbags.com/.

Please let me know what you think about this topic or if you have ever been able to see one of these bags in person.  As always, remember to keep shopping, Disney-style!
