To Tell The Truth: The Eyewear In Muppet*Vision 3-D

To tell the truthMy blog this week is a To Tell The Truth! YEAH! Personally, these are some of my favorite pieces to write for you guys because I get to be creative with it. Here’s how it works: I will ask you a question, and you have to tell me the answer. Wait, I forgot a crucial detail. I will give you four options, but only one of them is correct. However, I won’t tell you which one is correct. That’s not my job – it’s yours! All you have to do is leave a comment below telling me which one is true. So, are you in? I hope so.

Last month, I tested your knowledge regarding “It’s a Small World”. I asked you how many languages were featured in the song we all know and love. The correct answer was Story Number Two! There are five languages featured in the “It’s a Small World” theme song: Japanese, Spanish, Swedish, Italian and English. In fact, the song is sung by children in Tokyo, television performers from Mexico City, a church choir from London, a school chorus in Rome and kids from Burbank, California. Congratulations to everyone who guessed correctly!

On Thursday, Hollywood Studios celebrated its 25th anniversary. To celebrate, I thought it would be great to make this edition of To Tell The Truth take place in Disney Hollywood Studios®. I believe one of the most underrated attractions is Muppet*Vision 3-D, along with that whole entire area. It is filled with little jokes and puns that will make you cringe. My question is specifically about the movie itself. Muppet*Vision      3-D,of course, is in 3-D, so those magical glasses that turn a 2-d movie into a 3-D one are required. What do the Muppet’s call the 3-D glasses in the preshow?

Story One

Since the show is based off of Jim Henson’s greatest creation, “Special Muppet Glasses” would be the most appropriate name right? You are wearing glasses, and you are viewing a Muppet show! What makes them special, you ask? Well, it makes the ordinary screen turn extraordinary! The characters come to life in a way never seen before. Of course, none if that could be possible without “Special Muppet Glasses”!

Story Two etw219148LARGE

Due to all the stunts in the show, “Safety Googles” are needed. Everything from Gonzo’s crazy stunts and Bunsen Honeydew’s experiments are reasons to wear safety goggles around the Muppets. These loveable creatures want to make sure that you are safe, so they gave you “Safety Googles” to wear during their show. Honestly, I would want to wear safety googles AND a helmet if I was around the Muppets. After all, you never know what to expect!

Story Three

The glasses are pink. If you know Disney, you might be wondering why they are this pale shade of pink. There is only one type of Muppet that is this shade of pink, and that is the Snowths. The Snowths are those pink girls that sing the background “doos” in the song Manah Manah. They only show up in groups, just like the people going to see MuppetVision only show up as a large group. These “Snowth Goggles” are turning you into one of them. How clever!

Story Four

Very simple. They are just called 3-D glasses! Disney got away with this because the Muppets are aware that they are doing a 3-D show. The Muppets felt like they needed to make sure that people knew it was a 3-D show, so they used standard glasses even though the show itself is not so standard. What would a three dimensional show be without the 3-D glasses anyway?

Okay Disney fans! It’s time to play the music. It’s time to light the lights. It’s time to meet the Muppets on the Muppet Show tonight…Or maybe leave your guess to which story is correct in the comments below. Whichever you want. So the question is, what do that Muppets call their 3-D glasses? Tell us in the comments below. Is it Story One: Muppet Glasses, Story Two: Safety Googles, Story Three: Snowth Googles, or Story Four: just plain old classic 3-D glasses? I will announce the correct story in next month’s “To Tell The Truth.”
