shopDisney: Hallmark Christmas Ornaments 2014

shopDisney is a bi-weekly blog that will focus on Disney merchandise and products sold in the parks, in Disney stores, and in other retail markets.  We will explore product reviews, affordability, and to whom the products are marketed.  Like any other good product review, we will conclude with a rating scale for several different key components: price, age group, and whether the product is a “must have.”

The mention of this might make some of you hate me and resent that I am even mentioning the topic, but I wanted to make sure that you are all aware that some of the Hallmark Christmas ornaments have been released!  I know we are still in the Summer season and most kids haven’t even gone back to school yet, but looking at many of the stores, they already have the Winter holiday decorations going up.

My local Hallmark store informed me that the July ornaments were released but there would be more released in October, November, and December.  That being said, those that you see now may not be available in later months, and you will want to check back for upcoming designs. If I am not mistaken, you can look on the Hallmark website to see when certain ornaments will be released.

Frozen Ornaments:

The Hallmark and Disney artists must have been hard at work after the success of Frozen because they have designed an Elsa ornament that I imagine will sell out in a matter of days, if not hours.  The Elsa ornament will be released during the November month with the last release of the 2014 Christmas collection.

If you just can’t wait until November, then you will have to head to the store in October to welcome the Olaf ornament that will be released during that month’s ornament release.

Whichever ornament you want to add to your collection, you will probably want to get to the store early and get yours before they sell out, and you are left standing in the cold with no Frozen decorations on your tree.

“A Year of Disney Magic” Program:

Hallmark announced this Summer that they are going to have a monthly release of classic Disney character ornaments.  They began in July and will be released each month until June of 2015.  Each of the ornaments are $12.95 and are themed to the month of or next month that they are being in released in.  For example, the ornament being released in September 2014, is a Halloween themed one so that you can have it on display for the entire month of October.

I think this is a wonderful option for people who want to use small ornaments to decorate their homes for the entire year.  You can even make a special holder or tree to hold all of your ornaments that you collect throughout the year.

Alyssa’s Favorite Ornament for 2014Baby Mine 2 - KF

Out of all of the Christmas ornaments that Disney is releasing this year, my favorite is called “Baby Mine” and features baby Dumbo being rocked by his mom.  This one will be added to my personal collection for sentimental reasons.  Last year while in Disneyland®, I really listened to the song with the same name and knew that it would be the song that I wanted to sing to my first baby.  As we are welcoming him before Christmas, I cannot imagine any better ornament that I want on my tree.

Let me know which ornament is your favorite and also any other designs that you think Disney and Hallmark should design for next years collection.  Just keep in mind your Disney-style and passion for Disney while beginning your Christmas and holiday season shopping!
