My family and I stayed at the Polynesian in 2012, and on our second day I wasn’t quite hungry enough to eat dinner when everyone else was. I opted for a snack, and then went down to Captain Cooks for a late supper. I was dissapointed to hear that they had stopped serving the full menu for the night, but they would still make flatbread pizzas. It wasn’t what I would have chosen, but I ordered one and took it back to my room.

That pepperoni flatbread was by far my favorite meal of the trip. So much so that I actually went back and had another one. And, of course, being able to get a heaping cup of Dole Whip from the machine (R.I.P.) certainly didn’t hurt.

Disappointing menu – very very limited vegetarian options. Only one pizza and that’s it. Really? How about a veggie burger?

  3. Sara says:

YUM! Everything looks great. Can’t wait to try it myself.

  4. Bryan says:

Lou, As I understand, Dole Whip will be back, however it will no longer be self serve.

The food options at Capt Cooks look really good. I enjoyed that you tried so many as well as posted the pics; all in the name of science of course. The chicken and waffles look especially interesting.

After listing to your children review the food, I’m thinking my child isn’t cultured enough. Congrats on raising foodies!

  7. Brian says:

What a great review. Made me hungry just listening.

One question: Do you know what kind of fish is in the Fish Taco?

And how great to have the whole family involved. Great to hear from Deanna, but Marian (sp?) and Nicholas were terrific. Wait, hear that? It’s the sound of a Tween version of WDW Radio coming down the road. (OK, you can have the idea, Lou, no charge! ; – ) )

Love the live reviews so much never stop making them! How about one on Cosmic Rays- its my fave. OMG I loved the kids commentary so much. I wanted every single thing you ordered…AND THEY BETTER BRING THE DOLE WHIP BACK OR I’LL CRY! 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 What’s the price of the meatballs? Also I just couldn’t stop LOL-ing when you finally convinced yourself to get the chicken and waffles! hahaha well gtg Love the show
    Have a magical day!- DisneyGirl_Ruby 8:)

  9. Jordan says:

I want to try the lobster roll! I wonder if it is similar to the one at Columbia Harbour House? Maybe with a polynesian flair?

    YUM

  10. Nina says:

Great review! Loved hearing from the whole family. Gives us a good idea of what each of our family members will think next visit. Would love to hear more like this!

  12. Chuck Zitta says:

Awwwww man. Love the tribute to Robin Williams at the beginning of the show. Miss him.

Wow, that’s a lot of food you ordered! Sounds like you need some help with that meal???

We actually had lunch at Captain Cook’s on our last trip down in fall of 2014, thanks to this show! I had the fish tacos, which were AWESOME. The restaurant was not crowded at all and offered a nice break from a busy Magic Kingdom. A great place to slooooow down. Took one of the boats over for lunch. Stopped in the shop that was downstairs as well. Ended up getting an awesome sweatshirt and, unknowingly to me, my wife bought a pair of cool pajamas for a Christmas gift, which she gave me about a month later. (Amazing gift) In fact, both of us secretly bought Christmas presents for each other, AND the boys, during our 2014 Thanksgiving trip to WDW. Go figure. Now, we just need to go back some day and check out the lounge at the Poly. Looked like a fun place to hang out.

Thanks again for another appetizing show, Lou and family!!!
