Disney From The Twenty-Something: Highlights of the “Epcot® International Food and Wine Festival Presented by Chase®”

Caitlin CorselloEvery year, Epcot® plays host to the Epcot® International Food and Wine Festival Presented by Chase® and features endless options of global cuisines and drinks. This year the festival is running from September 19th through November 10th and is offering nearly thirty International Marketplaces along with special events, culinary demonstrations and seminars, and live music in the Eat to the Beat concert series. It’s a truly great time to visit Epcot®, and I was lucky enough to just spend a week in Walt Disney World® enjoying the many different foods being offered. Let’s check out a list of some of the best offerings from this year that are worth trying when you visit Epcot®!

Griddled Greek Cheese with Pistachios and HoneyGreece – This was one of my favorite dishes offered at this year’s Festival, and it featured a perfect balance between the sweet honey, savory cheese, and crunchy pistachios. If you are a fan of cheese and looking for a unique taste, definitely give this option a try!

Kerrygold Cheese Selection: Reserve Cheddar, Dubliner with Irish Stout, and Skellig – Ireland – Okay, I know you’re probably thinking ‘not more cheese…” but this cheese plate is one of my must haves every year at the Festival. Featuring a combination of sharp, soft, and always delicious cheeses, the offering also comes with a small piece of bread and Kerrygold butter. I can never say no to this dish when passing by the Ireland booth.

Singapore Sling Featuring Hendrick’s Gin and Cherry HerringSingapore – Of all the drinks I was able to sample this year, this was by far my favorite. It was the perfect balance of gin and the sweetness of cherries making it a refreshing beverage to sip while strolling through World Showcase.

“Le Cellier” Wild Mushroom Beef Filet Mignon with Truffle Butter Sauce – Canada – This offering is a huge hit every year at the Festival, earning it a repeat spot every year. For $7.25 you get a perfectly cooked piece of delicious meat along with mushrooms and the ridiculously addictive truffle butter sauce. Sure, it’s a little pricy compared to some other Festival offerings, but it is definitely one of the best bites you’ll try.

Neige Premiere Apple Ice Wine – This drink is for those of you who enjoy sweet cocktails. Somewhat like a sweet spiked apple juice, this drink is ridiculously good, and I find myself returning to it every year. Definitely worth a try if you’ve never had ice wine before!

Caitlin CorselloNueske’s Pepper Bacon Hash with Sweet Corn, Potatoes, Hollandaise, and Pickled Jalapeño – Farm Fresh — A new offering at the Festival, this dish was by far the most complex mix of flavors I experienced on my tastings. Featuring smoky bacon (which you can smell from quite a ways away), sweet corn, creamy hollandaise, and spicy jalapeños, this dish offers a great spicy kick and is delicious to the last bite.

Crème Brulee Caramel Fleur de Sel – France – A decadent, thick, creamy dessert, I found myself wanting to lick the bowl when I finished it. With a delectable sea salt flavoring, this crème brulee was literally good to the last drop. If you enjoy dessert, this is a must try for you!
