shopDisney: Building a “Frozen” Bear

shopDisney is a bi-weekly blog that will focus on Disney merchandise and products sold in the parks, in Disney stores, and in other retail markets.  We will explore product reviews, affordability, and to whom the products are marketed.  Some of the posts will contain a rating scale for several different key components: price, age group, and whether the product is a “must have.”

I am back after a little hiatus to focus on my newborn son that my husband and I welcomed.  Walter Dean Wiseman (pay attention to the initials!) joined our household on October 2, 2014 and is already learning to be a Disney fan.  I wanted to make sure I was back before the holiday season begins, so I could keep you updated with all of the gift ideas for your Christmas shopping.  Let’s take a look now at some items you could put under your tree for the Frozen fans in your life.

Following the huge success of the movie Frozen, many retailers have jumped to put merchandise on their shelves themed towards the movie.  One retailer that has done just this is Build-A-Bear Workshop which has introduced several Frozen-inspired products.

Olaf Plush:

Olaf BaB PlushWhile not impossible, it would be difficult for Build-A-Bear to produce true-looking Elsa and Anna dolls.  They instead chose to focus on the Olaf character for the actual plush and leave the costuming for Elsa and Anna inspirations.  The Olaf plush is absolutely adorable and something to give “warm hugs” to.  The pricing for the Olaf plush is $25.00.  Quick note, I did find the Olaf tropical outfit online, but did not see it displayed at the store.  It was selling for $13.50 on the Build-a-Bear website.

Elsa and Anna Costumes:

If you already have a favorite bear or other stuffed animal from Build-a-Bear, then you might want to dress them as your favorite Frozen BaB Elsa and Anna Outfitscharacter.  For this reason, Build-a-Bear offers both Elsa and Anna outfits available to dress your stuffed friend in.  Not only do they offer the  dresses, but they also offer the shoes and wigs to accompany them, including Elsa’s famous over-the-shoulder braid!  The costume itself sells for $18.00 and the wigs cost $7.50.

Additional Frozen Merchandise:

Just a quick note to mention that while shopping at my local Kohl’s store I found that they have an entire section devoted to Frozen merchandise!  It was located close to the girls clothing section, but it included more than just clothing items.  My favorite item that they carried was the Olaf baking set for your Christmas cookies!

I hope you haven’t caught a chill reading this post and that it will give you a few more options of gifts to purchase for your Frozen-loving family members or friends.  Have a wonderful start to your holiday shopping and remember to always keep shopping Disney-style!
