shopDisney is a bi-weekly blog that will focus on Disney merchandise and products sold in the parks, in Disney stores, and in other retail markets.  We will explore product reviews, affordability, and to whom the products are marketed.  Some of the posts will contain a rating scale for several different key components: price, age group, and whether the product is a “must have.”

The 2015 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna is finally here, and along with it comes the release of the 2015 New Balance Disney-inspired shoes!  I am not a runner (I tried it once and hurt my knees so bad that I will never try it again), but I must admit that if the opportunity ever presented itself, I would purchase a pair of these amazing shoes!!  I have to thank Disney local, WDW Radio listener, and friend, Jimmy Stiles for helping me out and getting the pricing and pictures of these shoes from the runners expo.

2015 Designs:

IMG_6152IMG_6148If you remember from last year the designs were bright and vibrant. This year Disney and New Balance designers took a much different approach that was not as flashy, but incorporates touches of Disney throughout.

As you can see in the pictures, the shoes this year are black or gray, gender dependent, and white.  Honestly, these would be wonderful to own if you wanted to show some Disney spirit, but in a quieter manner.  On the rubber part of the shoes there are small musical notes that, again, are not super obvious.  New Balance did mention there were other surprises on the shoes, but were careful not to give away the entire design!

Pricing for this years shoes have jumped a bit to $185.00.

2014 Styles:IMG_6149IMG_6150

Runners and fans alike have made it quite clear that they love these shoes and are willing to purchase them, so New Balance has brought back the 2014 styles for this weekends marathon. If you missed out on getting a pair last year, you will have the opportunity to possibly purchase your favorite pair this year, if they are still available when you get to the Expo.  Pricing for the 2014 shoes are: Mickey (men’s) and Minnie (women’s) at $125.00, Goofy (men’s) and Cinderella (women’s) at $120.00.  These shoes are limited in quantity, so if you want a pair get there early!

New Virtual Queue:

One of the best options offered this year is the ability to virtually “line up” to purchase the Disney shoes. As explained by New Balance, a runner should be able to enter their bib number on a special website and then choose a time when they will be visiting the Expo to purchase their shoes! I was not able to find too much information about this process or what happens if you are not running an event, but if you are a runner, please know this is available.

Again, thank you to Jimmy Stiles for the assistance this week and good luck to all of you running the events this weekend!  And for those of you that are Dopey enough to run all 4 events, you are a much better person than I am.

I have a cousin who has run the Marathon with her husband and son for years. I don’t know if she has purchased any of the shoes. If she has, I’m jealous. I haven’t seen pictures of the shoes before. This year’s are really stylish – impressive!

  2. I hope the next year will have the shoe designs more subversive.Thank you so much.

Aww, these looked so cute – too bad I missed these! I am a huge Disney and running fan so I would’ve bought this in an instant if I saw it in our local shoe store.
