Day 6 – Six Favorite Local Stores to Purchase Disney Gifts

In the spirit of the well-known song, The Twelve Days of Christmas, our writers will be counting up from 1 to 12 as we bring you a numbered, Disney-themed subject on each day leading up to Christmas.

Shopping at Walt Disney World is always fun and allows you to bring home unique items to remember your vacation, but sometimes you can find items that are cheaper (let’s face it, shopping at Disney can be a little pricey), and have lots more merchandise to choose from by shopping at your local stores. Here are six of my favorite stores to shop at and a little description of what each store has to offer:

1. TargetDisney Tsum Tsum's at Target

If you have read any of my former blogs, then you know that I LOVE shopping at Target! I often will stop in looking for one item and come out with several bags (which is why my husband really worries when I tell him I went to Target during the day!). I always find lots of Disney branded merchandise there including clothing, home decor, and lots of toys!

I was surprised to find so many different categories of Disney toys at Target, and they often are changing out older products with new and more relevant items. For example, this month they have been stocking different departments with The Good Dinosaur merchandise!

One big item that Target offers that is unlike any other store….Tsum Tsum’s! Besides finding them at the actual Disney stores and online, Target is the exclusive store to find these squishy little characters.

2. JCPenney

I remember as a young girl going with my mom to shop at JCPenney and it being all about clothing, but now this store also offers lots of items and tons of Disney merchandise for any member of your family!

In the children’s department of the store is a massive banner and decorations showing where the Disney merchandise is located, and they also have a selection for men and women. As well as offering a larger selection of clothing, I also feel like the pricing is quite good compared to anything you would purchase at Walt Disney World.

3. WalmartMelissa and Doug Products

Walmart has one specific set of products that I really enjoy, and that is the Disney collection by Melissa and Doug. I touched on this product briefly in the birthday blog that was published about a month ago.

The Melissa and Doug products are hand-made, wooden toys that are super cute and perfect for the younger children in your life. While they offer many products that are not Disney, they have a wonderful line that is! Their products include puzzles, blocks, shape sorters, pretend food sets, and much, much more.

4. Walgreens

If you are looking for some good stocking-stuffers, then this is the place to find them! They often have little Mickey and Minnie items that are perfect for the Disney fan in your life.

5. Kohl’s

This is another store where you can find lots of screen printed Disney shirts and other clothing pieces. I think, for me, this store is different because they also have a very large selection of Disney toys (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Frozen, Sophia the First, and Jake and the Neverland Pirates just to name a few). As a second reason to shop here, they offer coupons several times during the month to bring your total down quite a bit (and even offer a rewards program).

Recently while shopping at my local store, I was able to find lots of Star Wars merchandise available in both the Men’s and Women’s departments. While tempted to purchase something to wear to the theatre, I figured I would wait until after Christmas!

6. Pandora

My last location I enjoy shopping at for Disney gifts is a little more expensive than the previously mentioned ones, but offers a wonderful way to remember milestones or make the female in your life smile! Pandora charms are a way to show your Disney love with jewelry. Their charms can be turned into necklaces or earrings and tend to last a little longer than some of the jewelry you can purchase at the Disney Parks!

I also enjoy that your Mickey charm can be right next to a charm that shows you are an Indianapolis Colts fan! What a really neat way to tell people who you are and what you enjoy.

That is it for me and I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year (can you believe we are only 2 weeks away from 2016?). I hope that you get to spend some time with family and friends and maybe even have a upcoming Disney trip to look forward to!
