The Magical White Board at Walt Disney World

Hello, fellow Walt Disney World fans and WDW Radio Box People! It has been way too long since our last post. This year was just super-busy with projects, work and family life, and time flew by too fast. Of course, no matter how busy life gets, we always find time for a Walt Disney World vacation.

This past September, we visited “The World” and came across a very pleasant and fun surprise – a nondescript white board and Post-It notes affixed to a neighbor’s resort door down the hall. At first, we weren’t quite sure what to make of it. We saw there was a different message on it each day, sometimes two, but we weren’t sure who the messages were meant for. Perhaps, it was some inside fun they were having with friends or other family members who might also be visiting. Then one morning, we noticed their door had Post-Its on it with messages from what seemed to be other guests and neighbors on our floor.

We thought it was such a cute idea and a really clever way to engage and encourage perfect strangers to come together. Although, while guests may not know each other and might be strangers in that respect, we all have the same common interest in Disney, so we really aren’t that different after all!

Of all the times we’ve been to Walt Disney World, we’ve never seen anything like this. So, we decided to join in the fun. We found ourselves having a conversation with people that we never actually met, but through our little pink notes, realized we had a lot in common.

We were at the same parks for a few of the days, took the same Magic Kingdom tour just a day apart, ate at some of the same restaurants on the same day, and we even gave each other tips throughout the week.

Who were these mystery people that we came to know? We were also leaving on the same day, too, because on the day we were heading home, we noticed the board and Post-Its were taken down. We never did meet the people who did this, but they certainly created a memory for us that we won’t soon forget.

Have you ever seen this done before? Have you ever done it and, if so, what were some of the notes you got? Did you ever meet any of the people who wrote you notes?

“New Yorkas” Felicia and Sean are avid Disney fans.  Their first vacation as a couple was in Walt Disney World.  They were engaged there, and also honeymooned there.  After a combined 30 trips to the World, they are self-professed Disney travel agents and enjoy helping family and friends plan magical Disney vacations.
