    To answer your question, no; I have not tried Skipper Canteen… yet. May be a few years for me. Layered mac ‘n cheese sounds amazing! Eating BEFORE the review. Very nice. That’s hilarious! Sounds like a great place to eat. Glad to see they’ve added a new table service restaurant to the Magic Kingdom! The menu sounds good to me :0))) The atmosphere as well. Thanks again for another terrific show, Lou!!!

    Ate there with my Mum just this past Thursday and LOVED it! The flavors were so wonderful and different. We shared the Arepas appetizer which was very filling, but so tasty! Definitely not your typical appetizer. I had the Vegetable Curry Crew Stew while my Mum had the Char Sui Pork. Had to share because they were both such delicious dishes. The sauces they use are so creative. Can’t wait to go back and try something different next time! Loved hearing your take on all the good nosh Lou- and thanks for the heads up about dessert! Kungaloosh is on my mind til next trip for sure =)

    My son and I ate dinner at Skippers last week. I had the lamb chops which was the worst meal I have had at WDW. They were so thin and tough I would rename it lamb jerky. My son ate the shrimp and lobster which was just okay, not worth the effort. Hopefully they can get it together soon.

    Great episode Lou! I really look forward to trying it out on my next trip and as per your suggestion making it a complete experience with a fast pass to the Jungle Cruise (never tried it at night!). I also wanted to comment that I really enjoy your live restaurant reviews and especially liked the approach you used for this one and the Jock Lindsey review by bringing a larger group of people with you. It really allows you to give your listeners a true sampling of the menu and a more comprehensive review, plus I’m sure it doing so more frequently will make your friends happy! Keep up the great work and thanks for providing a piece of the magic every week!

    Lou: What setup do you use for remote recording like you did in the episode? Surely you’re not getting that good sound from just a digital recorder.

    One more question, Lou. Is your Roland just sitting in the middle of the table? It sounds as if the recorder is within a foot of each speaker’s mouth.

    Hi Lou, I enjoyed the review! I just got back late last night from 9 days in Disney World! We ate dinner at the Skipper Canteen last Sunday and we LOVED it!! The decor alone would make me happy even if it was just a burger joint but we definitely found the menu to be intriguing 🙂 I had the shrimp, which was awesome and I tested my friend’s mac and cheese, which was delicious! Another friend had the hot and sour soup and she really liked it. I somehow missed the souvenir mug though…I’ll just have to go back I guess 🙂

    We sat in the main section but we explored on the way out. I loved the stained glass parrot chandeliers in the back room and my favorite little detail was on the announcement board up front. There was a Holiday Potluck flyer asking everyone to bring a dish to share….except for Trader Sam 🙂

  10. Last month I was lucky enough to eat at The Skipper Canteen. I tried the Trader Sam’s Head on Shrimp it was really good and tangy. It was easy to pull the skin off, it had a hint of sweet chilly sauce along with a side of Chinese Buck weed.
