1. How many pools can be found at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort?
A. 3 – A total of three pools can be found throughout the Art of Animation Resort. Each pool ranges in depth from around three feet to five feet and are said to be heated to a warm eighty-two degrees Fahrenheit. That is where the similarities end, however, as each pool is specifically themed to the area where it can be found. The first pool, Flippin’ Fins Pool, is located in the Little Mermaid section of the resort. This pool is considered a quiet pool despite the large Sebastian the crab statue directing his marine animal band. Holding about 103,642 gallons of water, the Flippin’ Fins Pool is the second largest pool at Art of Animation Resort. The second pool, Cozy Cone Pool, is found on route 66 in the Cars area. Surrounded by large, charming orange traffic cone cabanas, this quiet pool is full of Cars details. Shaped like a car tire and themed after the Cozy Cone Motel, the Cozy Cone Pool holds about 74,740 gallons of water. The main pool, and the largest pool in all of Walt Disney World holding a staggering 308,572 gallons of water is The Big Blue Pool. Inspired by Pixar’s Finding Nemo, this pool opened on May 31, 2012 with a very special pool party. Located directly behind Animation Hall, The Big Blue Pool features huge character sculptures, a fun water area for kids (Schoolyard Sprayground), and zero entry. All of these cool features pale in comparison to the real surprise – The Big Blue Pool is equipped with a first of it’s kind underwater stereo system playing Disney songs!
2. True or False: All sections of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort opened on May 31, 2012. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort opened in phases beginning with the Finding Nemo area and surrounding pool on May 31, 2012. Following not even a month later, the Cars area and Cozy Cone Pool opened on June 18, 2012. The third section to open was The Lion King and very fun Lion King themed playground on August 10, 2012. Finally, on September 15, 2012 The Little Mermaid section of the resort opened for guests. (I found this little piece of trivia very interesting!)
3. How many storyboard pictures are used to create the show stopping chandelier in the Animation Hall lobby?
C. 77 – Disney’s Art of Animation celebrates the animation process. From the special, one of a kind check-in area, to the name of the amenities (Ink and Paint Shop and Pixel Play Arcade) the theming of artistic creation is everywhere. (You can even find massive notepads with character sketches on the ends of certain buildings!) Beautiful artwork can be found throughout Animation Hall, and it truly is worth taking some time out of the busy hustle and bustle of a Walt Disney World vacation to enjoy the many sketches, paintings, and backgrounds the resort offers.
4. How many rooms are located at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort?
A. 1,984 – Ten buildings house the nearly 2,000 rooms located at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. During construction, one of the largely publicized highlights of this new value resort were the large and spacious rooms able to sleep six to eight people. The majority of the rooms (1,120) are family suites that are capable of sleeping up to six people. The remaining 864 are standard room layouts. These standard rooms are located in The Little Mermaid building as this building was originally built for Pop Century Resort’s expansion.
