Star Wars D23 Expo News Round-Up

As one of Disney’s largest properties, Star Wars news was in abundance at this year’s D23 Expo. Here are the biggest stories from the Galaxy Far Far Away:

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Sizzle Reel

While there was no new trailer, a behind the scenes look at Star Wars: The Last Jedi was shown that offered up glimpses at new creatures and sets from Episode 8. Particularly of interest were the number of new creatures shown, including wolves that appear to be made of crystal, and something that looks like a cross between a otter and a chipmunk.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

“Star Wars Land” is now called Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and still set to open in 2019.  The setting is a space port on an all new planet that is set at the far reaches of recorded space, which in Star Wars lore is known as “wild space”

Star Wars Resort Hotel:

Exclusive to Orlando is what is being billed as the most immersive Disney hotel ever built. The hotel will place guests in a starship in space. The official Disney Parks blog entry also seems to hint that guests will get uniforms to fit the setting. You’ll be doing more then sleeping in your room; you will embark on your own journey.

Star Wars Battlefront II:

A new trailer for Battlefront 2 was released giving more details on the single player mode. As the first game was sorely lacking in this department, Battlefront 2 looks to set things right with a new story based around a group of elite Imperial troopers known as Inferno Squad.

Whether you like it or not, as a Disney fan there is absolutely no escaping Star Wars.
