Now you can join your Pixar Pals Russell and Dug as they go on an adventure to connect with the variety of bird species that can be found at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Led by a senior Wilderness Explorer, UP! A Great Bird Adventure is a 25-minute live show that takes place in Anandapur Village (check the Times Guide for the daily schedule).
If you enjoyed Flights of Wonder, which closed in late 2017, you will equally enjoy UP! A Great Bird Adventure. Some of your favorite feathered friends are back, such as Frasier the crane and Miles the hornbill. They are joined by several other exotic species of birds for some high-flying antics and other surprises. More than 15 species take flight on the stage, including toucans, a bald eagle, cranes, parrots, macaws, and chickens.
I attended UP! A Great Bird Adventure on day two of its debut. Some of the birds were shy and missed their entrance cues, but the small bloopers by the “cast” added to the charm of the adventure. As they say, the show must go on and the senior Wilderness Explorers handled the mishaps with calm humor. Practice makes perfect!
As Russell and Dug will tell you—the wilderness must be explored! One of the goals of Disney’s Animal Kingdom is to inspire guests to connect with nature. You too can become a Wilderness Explorer by completing fact-finding challenges to earn adventure badges! Learn more about the challenge here, and be sure to visit DisneyAnimals.com or grab an Animal Guide when you enter the park.
