WDW Radio Show #537 – Native American Culture in the Disney Parks and Movies

November is Native American Heritage Month, and this week, we’ll look at references to Native Americans in Walt Disney World, including their earliest beginnings in Disneyland. We’ll explore the history of the references, tribes, artwork, and culture, as well as trace back and discuss their presence in Disney feature films, and connection to Walt Disney himself. We’ll look back at not only some extinct references in the parks, but also discuss some unrealized concepts, attractions, and lands. We’ll explore everywhere you can currently find Native American inspiration, art, and stories in Walt Disney World, including the new “Creating Tradition: Innovation and Change in American Indian Art” in the American Adventure pavilion in Epcot.
