Have you ever been in a Disney park and seen other Guests wearing special buttons and wondered how they got them? Well it’s easy! These special buttons are complimentary and are called Celebration Buttons, and when wearing them, you might be sprinkled with extra magic. You can celebrate anything you like, my family has celebrated birthdays, graduations, first trips, Dopey Challenges, anniversaries, etc. The buttons come in four different types depending on what special occasion you are celebrating. All four buttons have a slight variation in design, but are easily recognizable. Currently the following Celebration Buttons are available:
- 1st Visit
- I’m Celebrating
- Happy Birthday
- Happily Ever After
- Also, Disney Cruise Line version of I’m Celebrating
Where to find Celebration Buttons
Celebration Buttons are very easy to find at Walt Disney World and Disneyland. The easiest place to obtain one is at the front desk of your Disney resort hotel during check-in. Simply ask the Cast Member for one, and they can add your name or celebration to the button. (Bonus Tip: Ask for clear tape to be put over your name/celebration so it doesn’t rub off). They can also be found in Guest Relations at all four parks, Disney Springs Guest Relations, and at some store registers on Main Street, U.S.A. At Magic Kingdom Park, they are also available at the Chamber of Commerce building. And, if you are lucky enough to be sailing on Disney Cruise Line, they even have them at Guest Services on the ships.
The Magic of a Celebration Button
It is fun to wear a Celebration Button around the parks/cruise because Cast Members and some guests will recognize them and give you a shout out for your birthday, anniversary or celebration. I have even had other Guests wish me a Happy Birthday. On occasion you might be lucky enough to score some extra magic at a restaurant, like a free dessert, or other magical surprises such as a FastPass, or special tip about the park that day. But, these are totally up to the Cast Members and not available at all times or to all Guests. As a side note, it doesn’t have to be your actual birthday date to wear a birthday Celebration Button, people wear them the week of their birthday, or if the trip was a birthday celebration gift. And remember, Celebration Buttons are not just for birthdays, we’ve seen some wild celebration sayings over the years.
So on your next trip or cruise, remember to get your Celebration Button and wear it proudly.
