Hi Everyone! This week, let’s “craft” something different. How about an idea for mid-winter BBQ dish using my new favorite Disney food condiment~ Boma Mustard Sauce? I became a huge fan of it the first time I stayed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and ate dinner at Boma. I had to ask my server for a copy of the recipe.

Winter weather is a “practically perfect” time for us to break out our Webers, Stok Towers or Foreman Grills. So, if you want to marinate your favorite meats in this spicy sauce, let’s get started together!

Boma Mustard Sauce

Makes 6 cups

Ingredients:

½ cup Teriyaki sauce (I use Kikkoman Low Sodium Teriyaki Sauce)

½ can (approx. 3 ounces) Chipotle pepper (I use Goya Chipotles in Adobo, and personally, I only use < ¼ of the can because they tend to be super spicy)

1 ½ cups Dijon mustard (I use Grey Poupon)

1 tablespoon dry mustard (I use McCormick’s)

1 cup brown sugar

1 ½ cups honey (I use a local Floridian orange blossom honey)

Place the chipotles in a blender, then pour the teriyaki sauce over them. Puree this until smooth. Take a fork and realign the chipotles, if necessary, to get them properly pureed. Add the rest of the ingredients and continue to puree until smooth. Stop and taste along the way to check the flavors. Seal well in a glass jar or container. I find this sauce keeps in my fridge for up to 3 weeks.

Note: Boma Mustard Sauce is definitely on the bold side, so please use much less of the chipotles in the recipe to get it to turn out more mild. However, do not exclude them completely. I would start out with 1/4 of one chipotle and add more as you go to get the flavor the way you want it. You can also add more or less of each other the other ingredients as well. The beauty of this recipe is that you don’t need to worry about blending the ingredients in order, as long as it purees smooth.

Serving suggestion: I marinate chicken cutlets in the Boma Mustard Sauce for about 30 minutes to an hour on the counter while I prep. Grill the chicken as you normally would. I like to put up some Texmati Rice (an American grown Basmati rice) and serve a salad on the side. Don’t forget to put extra sauce out for everyone at the table.

Enjoy “crafting” this or any new Disney recipe!

Who doesn’t love a Disney Cupcake?! I have been thinking a lot about one of my favorite treats the Parks and Resorts has to offer. And with Valentine’s Day coming up, I was inspired to get back in the cropping game by making this layered card with a Mickey twist.

Let’s get started together!

I used the following:

Pink cardstock (Martha Stewart Crafts)

Polka dot scrapbook paper (Martha Stewart Crafts)

Scrap of black cardstock

1 inch circle punch

Chipboard Printed Glitter Accent Cupcake (Colorbok #65966A VU)

Tape runner or similar adhesive

Dimensional foam adhesive dots

Printer

Instructions:

Honestly, I just layered this free hand. I didn’t really make measurements for the papers, except all of the layering pieces were cropped 1/4 inches in. I punched out two circles using my circle punch and adhered them with foam dots to turn it into a Mickey Disney Cupcake (think the Oreo Bon Bon Cupcake). I also used my printer to print out “Valentine…Knowing You Is Such A Treat!” in Jungle Fever Font. For your own version, just layer and adhere the papers any way you think it looks best.

Give your favorite Valentine a little “taste” of Disney with this quick, layered card : )

Oreo Bon Bon Cupcake?! Meet you at the BoardWalk Bakery!

Craft Time: 10 minutes

Fran’s Tips:

~Don’t forget, feel free to swap out this embellishment for your favorite Valentine goodie with a Disney twist. This idea works for a birthday card, too.

Hi Everyone! In keeping with the Mary Poppins theme, I want to share a super quick DIY remedy for beating the dry winter weather: Make your own sugar scrub. It’s super cheap and super effective in sloughing off and moisturizing at the same time. So let’s get mixing together!

A Spoonful of Sugar Scrub

2 cups Sugar (I like Domino, Florida Crystals, and Sugar in the Raw)

1 cup Olive Oil, organic if possible (I like Colavita), or other carrier oil

8-10 drops of Essential Oil (optional~I don’t always add this)

Small spoon

1 or 2, 8-16 oz. glass containers (preferably air tight)

Add all ingredients in a non-reactive bowl and mix well to incorporate. Store in an air tight container for up to two weeks. Use a small spoon for your new sugar scrub. The sugar exfoliates the skin, while the olive oil moisturizers it. It smells so good alone. But adding essential oil, makes it an aromatherapy treat.

To Use Scrub

~Spoon out portions of the scrub for the different spots you want to target. Try not to over rub. Rinse well off your skin. Do not use on face or on areas with cuts.

~I keep some at the kitchen sink to give my hands extra pampering when they are dry and lotions and creams aren’t cutting it.

~Use caution and clean your shower or bathtub thoroughly. The oil in the scrub will cause those surfaces to become very slippery.

If you would like to give your scrub as a gift, you can use this digital freebie I created just for you:

A Spoonful of Sugar Scrub Label

Exfoliate your skin “in a most delightful way”!
