Question The Simpsons and Disney, do they mesh?

Somehow this came up at work last night and got me wondering, would they be a good match? Doubt it will ever happen, but it makes for good conversation!

-It's the longest running animated series in TV history

-The show has received over 40 Emmy nominations

-Has been awarded over 40 major television awards

-Each show actually teaches some sort of family values (in a weird kinda way)

-Do they really do anything worse than any of the Disney villains?

Who in the entertainment industry wouldn't want to be a part of that?

Personally, my wife hates it, the kids and I love it and I believe there is no middle ground on it.

I can just envision a Nuclear Plant theme park with a giant "DOH!" sign in the sky!

    Let the debate begin!

    LOVE LOVE LOVE The Simpsons.

I think it's the funniest AND smartest show on TV. I thank goodness that I don't often get to watch it on Sunday evenings, which means until I'm Abe Simpson's age I'll be able to watch episodes in syndication with a guarantee I'll see a show I've never seen before at least a few times a week.

OK, now that you know that about me ....

I think The Simpsons and Disney would be a TERRIBLE mix. They have completely different philosophies. And completely different ways of relating to people.

The Simpsons are sarcastic, biting, wonderfully snarky, while Disney is sweetness and light.

Think of the most street-wise and sarcastic Disney characters. Timon from Lion King. Iago from Aladdin. If Timon and Iago visited Springfield, they'd be beaten up and have their lunch money taken from them. If they wore underwear, it would be run up the flagpole. It wouldn't be pretty. After all that, Hakuna Matata would change meanings to "I'm going to Moe's for a drink."

Do they mesh? Like oil and water. I've never been to Universal, but now I have another reason NOT to go.
    mini-V What will you celebrate?
