    Pal Mickey reviews/Questions

    Hello,
Has anyone ever bought a Pal Mickey?
I've seen them at the resort stores, I'm thinking about getting one for our DW trip in Sept. If anyone could give me their opinion I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks

I have three PM - The orignal version, the HCOE version (tuxedo), and the YOAMD version (sorcerer). As you may have guessed, I'm a fan. As to whether or not he's worth the investment...it depends on what you're looking to get out of him.

The current version plays a handful of games, sings bits of songs, tells really lame jokes and fills you in on what is going on around the park for that day (where there is a short line, when to get a spot for the parade, etc)

I dress my Mick in a variety of costumes and the biggest plus for me is the opportunities he gives me to interact with other Guests. I've met some wonderful folks while waiting in queue or riding on the bus. Sometimes, I've shared him with a child on the brink of a meltdown.

I think DisneyWorld is one of the few places you can instantly strike up a conversation with nearly anyone as you already have one thing in common.

I rarely go anywhere at WDW without Mick. Only time he stays at the resort is when it is pouring down rain. He doesn't like to get his nose wet.

If you have any questions about PM, ask away. I'll do what I can to answer.

We got one for my son during our last visit in April. Pal Mickey is great! He was fun to use at the park and my son loves to play with him now that we are home too. And it's also great that we can continue to take Mickey with us on future visits to the park.

Ditto to all of the above comments. We love my Pal Mickey and never leave home without him! He is actually the first thing I pack in my carry-on. You should see him go through the security check-in at the local airport! Hahahaha....He gets quite a bit of attention even away from WDW! Whenever I get the Disney Blues when I am not there I occasionally pull him out and play a few of the jokes at home. It always cheers me up!

We bought the original when it first came out. We loved it then and now my 11 year old daughter loves it also. My sister just bought a new one this year.

How does it know where you are at? Like if you were at POTC, how does it know to give you facts about POTC?

I think I might get one when I go next time! Thanks for the reviews!

I can't tell you how he acts in the park because we haven't gotten the chance to take ours yet, but I can say how he acts at home. I was a little disappointed with him at home. He does play little games and tell some cheesy children's jokes, but he constantly repeats the same ones. It's definitely for a child of maybe 6 yrs. Adults shouldn't expect him to be too entertaining when you're not in the parks.

Pal Mickey has an infared receiver in his nose - that's why he works best if his nose is pointing forward and is unobstructed. There are infared transmitters placed strategically throughout the parks. When receiver connects with transmitter, PM vibrates to let you know he has something to say. If you want to hear what he has to tell you, you squeeze one of his paws.

He once told me to hug him tight because he was scared in the haunted mansion. He also tells really lame jokes! :o)

I got the orginal version of Pal Mickey and I think he's great. He is always on my backpack as soon we leave to go to Florida. He can be a pain in the neck but he does give some fun facts and great ride information espcially for novice park goers who dont have an idea as far as parade times and things like that.

    Buying a PM

Can you buy a new Pal Mickey outside the parks before you go?

You can take your chances on an auction website or try ordering directly from Disney Merchandising. I would just wait until you get to WDW. If you want to get him before entering any park, you can also get him at DtD and all resort gift shops.

I bought the Pal Mickey and I Love him, but, after a while, he does get a little bit to carry. I guess now, I have a pin lanyard, a heavy camera case, and sometimes other things hung around my neck and Mickey would make it just a little too much.
