    Grand marshall

I was hoping to get some ideas. Could anyone tell me how the grand marshall (or similar) are chosen each day?

I have read stories of matching shirts, hats, telling CM at town hall, wearing birthday button etc but wonder how much luck plays a part. Has any member here been so lucky? I so want my youngest DS to have something special for his birthday. I have got matching shirts & caps for all 11 of us. He has a special pair of ears I have attached a paper birthday hat to also. We will probably get the b'day button on his actual birthday as well. My son will be turning 3 during our grand gathering and I would like to increase his chances of a special something but am fresh out of ideas. Please help me out? Thanks in advance!

I don't know if there is anything you can do to truly increase your chances. I don't recall ever seeing anyone as young as three in any of the parades so they may have a minimum age they are looking for. You might think about trying to participate in the Family Fun Parade around the hub of the MK in the early afternoon instead. It is far more interactive than sitting in one place for the better part of an hour waving at strangers.

You don't mention which parade you are looking at. But, I got to be in the Jammin' Jungle Parade in February. It was purely a matter of "right place - right time". My friend, Shirley, and I were having lunch at Tusker House - we had picked an outside table towards the back so we could make a couple of phone calls. Three CMs came up a back set of steps and stood there talking for a couple of minutes. Then one of them approaches and asks if we would be interested in being in the afternoon parade. Would I! It was a dream come true and it just happened to be on my birthday.

I was practically peeing my pants with excitement. Then Shirley says "I don't know...I kinda wanted to take pictures of the parade. Alisa can do it by herself and I'll get photos". The CM says she is sorry but they really need two people. Are you KIDDING me!. I promptly inform Shirley that if she doesn't do this, she is sleeping by the pool at Pop for the rest of the trip!!!

So she gives in and we both had a fantastic time. Here we are on Mickey's car:

I was also in the Jammin' Jungle Parade a few years ago (oddly enough, on the same float as you GalPal). I don't think "cute" things increase chances, but it couldn't hurt. When my family and I was in the parade, my sister,11 at the time, had on some fuzzy, glittery, bouncy mickey ears and the lady that choose us kept complimenting her and playing with her "ears". So you never know, they may actually look for things like that.
    Good Luck and have fun!

P.S. Here's something I just thought of: Make your son a brightly colored "It's my Birthday" shirt.

Unfortunately it is a totally random process. There is no way to tell where to be or what to do. However, shirts like that may help (but no guarantee).

Thanks for the ideas guys. I appreciate any info !!!
GalPal I would be pretty upset if my friends wouldn't participate if I had been picked too! I'm glad she amended her answer. LOL!
