    Old WDW Tickets

I have just found several WDW tickets, some dating back to 1987 and 1989. I always heard that tickets never expired and have been successful using tickets from the mid 90's, but these seem to be a bit old for them to be accepted. I have a few questions. Will they still be accepted? If they are accepted, do I have to do anything special with them since they are pre-magnetic strip?

Yes, you can still use those tickets. You just need to go to the ticket counter before entering the park with proper identification and they should give you a pass for however many days you have left. My mother actually found old child tickets to WDW a little while ago from when my brothers and I were kids. We still had unused days, and even though we are now 27 and 25...we were still bale to use them. The woman at the counter asked for our I.D's, and just verified the dates that we would have been children then and she gave us tickets. I don't know if many people know that but you are able to use them even if they are child's passes. We went everyyear since I was 4 so you can imagine how many tickets and passes we had but Disney said it was no problem. I guess the best part is back in the 80's tickets cost almost nothing. So we definitley lucked out by being able to reuse them!! Good Luck!!

thanks for the confirmation. literally the last 8 times i've been to any of the parks have been on old tickets from the 90's, but these just seemed too old. now i can go a bunch more. the cool thing was, she also found a couple of old ride ticket booklets. too bad those E-tickets went to waste.

That is really nice to hear. We have several children's and junior tickets tucked in a drawer. A couple adult tickets too with a day or two left.
Back when they were little we often deemed a break from the park day as we would stay l0-16 days. We always had something left.

From what I understand, you will only be able to use them at the MK or Epcot, at least that is the way it was in the past

thats fine by me. one of them does say three park pass, so I assume it includes hollywood studios, but MK and Epcot are plenty for now.

I used to work at the Disney store when Animal Kingdom was opening. The way we had to explain it to people was that tickets would be good forever(I miss those days) but would only be good at the parks that are open when the tickets where first used. Check the date, if you used them before DS opened the third park might mean somewhere else. sometimes the castmember accepting the ticket will let it go though...they want your money from park merchandise

    Good Luck!

That's because YOUR PARENTS were paying for them! I remember a day at the parks being a substantial chunk of change to shell out...even though I did, and still do, think it's well worth the expense if you can afford it.

I had no idea that tickets were good forever. We always used up out tickets, so there was never a question of having any left over. I'd hang on to those E-booklets. A collector might be willing to offer you some hard cash for them if they are in good condition.

You can definitely use them at Animal Kingdom. My sister had a child's ticket from I believe 1986. I remember that she used it for AK because that's where she redeemed it for the current ticket. And just an fyi, they didn't even ID her. She was worried because she has since gotten married and therefore, has a new name, but it wasn't an issue.

My sister had old tickets (pre Animal Kingdom) and was able to use them at the Animal Kingdom but had to pay an upgrade fee. This was about 7 yrs ago.

Yup, you can get them upgraded at Guest Relations at all four parks, both water parks, and the two Downtown Disney locations:

Magic Kingdom - to the right of the turnstyles
Epcot - to the right of the turnstyles
Hollywood Studios - I *think* to the right of the turnstyles
Animal Kingdom - to the left of the turnstyles
Water Parks - left of the turnstyles
Downtown Disney Marketplace - adjacent to the Club Mickey athletic wear
Downtown Disney WestSide - next to the Wetzles Pretzles shop.
