A-Ticket holder
I made a LAL tile when I was there in the fall of 06, but none of the CM's could ever tell me what the money for it went for. I've always wondered if it went for the up keep of the sculpture, a scholorship program, into the parks pockets or what? Could someone please email me and let me know what the $ went for.

I had never heard of the money for LAL going towards anything. When We were on our Honeymoon back in 04, they gave Us the LAL as one of the free items offered back then for our travel package. Hmmm... I never heard that the cost of making a LaL tile went to anything like a charity or scholarship, so I would say most likely it went to 1) the cost of making your tile, 2) the cost of the sculptures, 3) the costs of marketing and selling the tiles for 7 years, and then if anything was left over into the general Disney wallet.
Considering how they didn't sell anywhere near as well as expected, they probably lost money on the whole program.

Much like the cost of anything in the world, the money goes to Disney. Ultimately I'm sure it covered the cost of the stones and marketing etc. like Pat said.
Sometimes all you need is a reminder that out there lies a better place... a better world... a Walt Disney World.

It is still kind of fun to go over to our LaL tile and see it. When We go with family, they like to see it. It's kind of like them seeing US on something at EPCOT. Sounds crazy, but it is pretty cool.

I love my LAL tile - I got it to commemorate my first trip with my son (18mos at the time) and it is something that we will enjoy looking at for many years to come
